C'mon, 101ms is not bad at all if you're connecting to an American server from Europe. If you're getting that when connecting to a server in your country (assuming your connection and the server are consistent and not overloaded) then that's bad.

Anyway, 50mb/s download, 5mb/s upload here and enjoying it.

I feel for you Americans. We only pay around €23,- a month which is roughly $31 (this includes calling). We've been a long time customer with them so we probably got a deal off them.
At least you get more than advertised!

In my area the only internet providers are Comcast, Mediacom, and Bellsouth (yes, they still sell dial-up in our area.)

Guess which one has the best speeds?

Ah, then it makes sense indeed. Is that the cheapest/most bang for the buck subscription you can get amongst the ISPs you listed?
America seriously needs to step it up.

Its the best bang for the buck if you pay for cable + internet, which we do.
Its also the fastest internet offered in in our area AFAIK.

And yeah, Google Fiber can't come soon enough.
And it won't come soon, considering that I live in the deep south, just above NaturalViolence. (Georgia as opposed to Florida.)

At the speed they're going, you're going to have to wait a loooong time for that yeah.
They only have Kansas City on their radar (so far), and only two cities have been foreseen of it.

Having 1gb download and upload sounds like a dream...

No it's not. We're talking about game servers here. Your ping should be much higher than that. 25-75ms is normal for servers in the same state. 50-100ms is normal for servers in the same region but not the same state. 100-175ms is normal for servers in the US but not in not in the same region. 175-250ms is normal for European servers. And that's for broadband. Dial-up values are higher. Kicking for 100ms ping is rediculous since on average more than half the users of any server have a ping higher than that. 200ms, 250ms, and 300ms are the normal kick values.
