I've a 250GB Western Digital USB external HDD. For a year after I got it, I had to repeatedly hit it so that it would work (the disk wasn't spinning). Now it seems to have grown out of that phase and works every time I plug it in. But I've hit it and dropped it far more often than one should, it still keeps working :p

Yeah I can't say that any of my HDDs have ever had any quirks either.

However , the warranty service is nice enough to send me their newer model for free . So that I completely forgot about that time Laptop: Youtube Channel (Vintage Tech/Watches) :: 04-25-2013, 01:04 PM

So... Looks like Nintendo isn't having a big press conference at E3 anymore. Good for Nintendo to go independent for their announcements. I'm seriously tired of mainstream media getting involved with my gaming news. They try to act like they have even the slightest clue what they're talking about when they obviously don't.
EDIT: Almost forgot to mention this, E3 is going to be terrible without Nintendo. As if it wasn't already obvious... 04-26-2013, 08:02 AM
For PC gaming, should I expect close results to i5 2410 (2.3 GHz) with Intel 3000?
Also - does anyone know of a cheap and reliable web hosting company (under $8 a month)? PC Specs

You should expect exactly the same results if your IGP is the same. Intel IGPs are so slow that they will basically always be the bottleneck.

Or you can just host it yourself (I would myself if my internet/ISP wasn't complete garbage). Hell pretty much every webhost I've ever seen has had a basic package that's lower than that.

It's great that the industry is progressing into a new console generation and everything, but it seems to like the days of using big conventions to strut your stuff is waning, especially when the internet and private events give companies just as much exposure. Sony has been giving us hints and details about the PS4 for a while, and even MS isn't waiting until E3 to take off some of the wraps surrounding "Durango." Sure E3 lets journalists play with the hardware in person, but I think companies are starting to wise up that you don't need a yearly showcase to generate hype. They can give the exact same message through their own press releases and demos of the hardware (besides, you know, the controller :p); the internet also does a fantastic job of disseminating all the little tidbits (and sometime more) they want people to see and hear. Personally, I haven't seriously paid attention to an E3 conference in years. It used to be something cool that happened during your summer vacation and you'd learn about it through magazines the next month (the 90s), then you could watch coverage day-by-day on TV (2000s, R.I.P. G4TV). Now I can just turn on my phone, browse a site or two, see what's hot and what's not and be done with the whole thing. It's not even worth watching the streaming video; I just wait until one day is over and then glance to see if there are any worthy up-and-coming attractions. That said, I really wish I had gone to one when they were still open to the public when I lived in California. Come back 90s, I miss you... |
