I'm really pleased with my PSU. I've just had 3 mini power cuts (lights were off for about a second each time, everything pluged in had a tizzy) and my computer sat there like a rock as I kept on typing. Who needs an Uninteruptable Power Supply?

I'll tell you what, it's nice to have the laptop running and not having to worry about the power going out while you're doing something. Not to mention I can still run the thing for 4 hours until the power comes back on.

Laptops are really only nice for their portability. Anything else, desktop. Portability matters a lot in today's world though, whether it be going between classes for school or going to and from the office and home for work. Business trips and general mobility throughout the house may also be important.
I use my laptop for programming, my phone/tablet for couch use and my desktop for power use (Dolphin mostly along with a lot of media and DVD ripping kinda thing).
Desktop:
OS: Windows 7 64 bit CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K @ 4.4 GHz GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Factory OC'ed) RAM: 16 GB @ 1600 MHz Dolphin Revision:3.0, 3.0-784, 3.5, latest 3.5 10-23-2012, 11:05 AM
2.5x IR is good enough for 14" laptop . Any more than 2.5x IR doesn't make any difference
