Both Ocarina and Majora were amazing. Majora would be definitely better than Ocarina if it had more than only four dungeons... Technically speaking did Majora have the upper hand. Backgrounds are almost entirely gone with (except for the Skybox, but this time much fewer). All indoor area's were actually 3D textured environments. Must be the fact that the team was only given one year to complete Majora... I can not say it enough times, I WANT MORE DUNGEONS. Same goes for The Wind Waker... Five dungeons is not enough. Twilight Princess was great too! Except it was way too easy... The Wii version kinda sucks because of the controls. My favorite dungeon of all time would be Forest Temple (Ocarina) followed by City in the Sky (Twilight Princess). Both dungeons really have the best atmosphere.
The weird thing is that I never had this complaint about the lack of dungeons for Breath of the Wild. Sure, there are only four relative small dungeons, no keys and all. But still... The whole world was basically one huge dungeon. There are all those hidden area's and shrines, and even the massive Hyrule Castle (still no dungeon, no puzzles at all) gave plenty to go for. Speaking about Hyrule Castle, the dread you feel when you work your way to the top was a feeling I had long forgotten. The fate of the world are showed itself there. The perfect atmosphere. Not since Ocarina of Time did I feel so overwhelmed in a game again. The game literally screams fun wherever you go.
Sure... There are some parts of the game less than ideal such as the inventory management system or the lack of a recipe cooking book. But still these flaws can be easily overlooked due the game being so great.
I always made it a traditional to play at least one full run of Ocarina and Majora once a year. Yeah, the N64 was an amazing system. Through the N64 graphics tend to get on my nerves these days... The graphics are way to outdated and pixelated. That's why we got emulators, AR/Gecko Codes and HD Texture Packs. I can still remember the first time I went through The Great Deku Tree with the Community Retexture Pack for Project64. It felt like I was really inside within a huge tree. The fact Rareware left Nintendo made me sad. Classics such as Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64... At least Yooka-Laylee came out, but that game just sucks.
As for A Link to the Past. I think it is a great game, but not as great as Ocarina. I kinda like A Link Between Worlds too and it was a refreshing view on the Zelda series, but a bit on the easy side. I never died on normal mode. Hero mode on the other hand... A Link to the Past can be a bit boring due the lack of interesting characters to talk with. But for a SNES game it was amazing indeed for it's time. Chrono Trigger did storytelling way better than A Link to the Past.
Yeah... Most of you wouldn't agree with my opinion. It might be nostalgia. But still, I do in fact replay the classics again and again, and there are still every bit as fun... Unlike these modern First Person games where the game holds your hand and everyone seems to be your best bro with kick-ass overpowered guns and weapons... It is aaaaaaaall about the graphics, got to do 8K/120FPS/HDR/Physics/Ragdolls/you name it or the game sucks. I just prefer gameplay above visual presentation. Visual presentation is still important, but gameplay matters most.
