What is going on with the DX11 backend? The DX11 backend has worse performance than the DX9 backend did although galop1ns contribution kind of fixed that. I wish developers would figure out wth he did lol just because I want to know what changes he made to improve performance.
I've become a convert from the DX11 backend to OpenGL. When everyone said the OpenGL backend was fast now they weren't kidding, smooth as butter pretty much and as fast as the DX9 backend was. With OpenGL and DX9 the following aren't issues or alleviated.. - Full speed near constantly in Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. Other games speed is improved. - In ZTP Hyrule Field fps increased without hack. With DX11 8fps. With OpenGL and DX9 15fps to 21fps without hack depending on IR. Fullspeed Hyrule Field with the hack enabled. - The minimap in ZTP doesn't have that reddish or pinkish outline. galop1n's DX11 improvements did somewhat bring performance up to speed with the other backends but his builds choked a bit and performance wasn't as smooth or consistent. The only gripe is that it seems efb to ram performs slightly worse with OpenGL than DX9/DX11 but not many games require this option to be enabled. 09-01-2014, 03:08 AM
I think they did work out what he did, and it was something along the lines of make really fast code that only works in a few situations. Lots of games don't work on the revision he gave us the source to, even though the ones that do may not have worked on the master branch.

Well I would exclusively use OpenGL but EFB -> Ram is slower than DX9 and DX11. Any idea how to prevent IR from slowing everything way down? Anything higher than 2X IR and things get slow.

Ideally, overclock your memory to a lot of GHz and set your latencies to 1-1-1-1. Unfortunately, you may need a motherboard, CPU and RAM that aren't currently available.

How does DX9/DX11 have better performance than OpenGL with Efb -> Ram? Doesn't IR performance depend on video hardware, I thought it did. I thought a GTX 460 would be capable of handling higher IR's.

I think it's time for my to finally exercise the Final Solution soon, any recommendations for places to back up a few gigabytes of 1-50kb music source files?

I'm pretty sure MEGA doesn't have any restrictions on the amount you can upload, but for just a few GB I'd probably put it on an external drive, or my phone or something if I didn't have any.

No external drives, phone has puny internal memory and no SD, maybe I'll compress it all really hard and throw it on a DVD. I have a lot of those.
