Hey guys.

Tried Dolphin for the first time in ages and I am getting random freezing. It's the latest dev build and I'm using hybrid ubershaders, 3x internal and 2x AA. Performance is perfect, except every so often the game will freeze for a few seconds. Can be anything from 2 to 5 seconds and then it resumes again.
Anyone know what can cause this?

Cheers,

Mark.

I was having the same problem, you are running the games on SSD? That fixed my problem.

No I was running of my regular drive as space on my SSD is low. I could give that a try though. Thanks Smile

It's possible your OS was making your HDD spin down to conserve power/noise and wasn't recognizing Dolphin holding an active handle on the dump located on your drive. I've had that happen before.

Make sure you have Windows Power management set to High Performance, and have a high performance profile setup up for Dolphin in Nvidia Control Panel.

Yeah, if the pause is as long as 2-5 seconds and only happens when at least a few minutes have passed since the last pause, it's likely to be because of the HDD spinning down.

Thanks for the replies guys. The profile is set to performance and hard drives are set to not turn off though.

2-5 seconds can also be Ubershader variants. You could try doing 1x IR and Exclusive Ubershaders to see if it's Variants being generated by the driver.

Wow. Found this. I didn't even know I could do this. I adjusted it in Nvidia but not sure about Windows. Is there (Like Nvidia) a way to make it switch between balanced and Performance automatically?

Please see our rules about necroposting. For topics that older than 6 months, it's recommended to make a new thread and post as many details as possible. Alternatively, in this case KHg8m3r is a pretty active member of this community, so a PM might be quicker if you want to talk directly.
