random crashes are random

well, here's my problem... the games i play go to a good speed, with no problems except for one. the game randomly crashes while i play. well, actually it doesn't exactly crash. it goes extremely slow for a few seconds. then it returns to it's normal speed... it happens a lot of times and it's very annoying... what should i do?
