Look at the actions of Christians lately , they are insane, they caused the Shutdown of the
US Government just recently thanks to ultra-retarded people like Michele Bachmann
and ultra-retarded pointless groups like the Tea Party.

Adam Lanza was also a Catholic look what he did.,

Didn't I just say Catholics contradict themselves? Do you even read or do you just like to assert your point until someone listens? Yes I'm sure that Christians are the cause of the Government shutdown. Rolleyes You just started spitting out Conspiracy Theories that make absolutely no sense. Obama says he's Christian yet allows Abortion and Gay Marriage. Now what do you see most Christians opinions on both of those are? Just because someone says they're something doesn't mean they are.

I have done many years of research...I know many religions on the inside out... Such as, how they make Money... Religious Leaders will never honestly say how they make money.

Even someone like the "Pope" or "Dalai Lama".. because our so-called "Heroes" are chosen for us
but the truth is that they are Frauds and liars.
The Dalai Lama is not a bad man, and does not go around peddling lies. He also has one of my favourite quotes ever, which really should apply to all things:
Quote:If scientific analysis were conclusively to demonstrate certain claims in Buddhism to be false, then we must accept the findings of science and abandon those claims.

Also, it is impossible to disprove the existence of a God, and until then a God should be accepted as a valid theory for what put the universe here. It may not be the best idea to say this is the only possible explanation, but anything, no matter how unlikely, that cannot be disproved should be treated as a valid theory. This actually follows the scientific method perfectly, and people ignoring this style of theory have been shown to be idiots before. For example, the guy who came up with the idea of tectonic plates was a teacher, and when he sent his theory off to leading geologists, they said his idea was ridiculous, and he'd pulled it out of the blue based on no evidence. Only when direct evidence was randomly stumbled upon did anyone believe his theory. Although it's highly unlikely proof of a God will ever exist, it's not good practice to dismiss the idea entirely.

As for the idea of a loving God that cannot control people or intervene in any way, you could argue that he was only semi-omniscient. He could well have been clever enough to set up the laws of Physics and the Big Bang in such a way that it guaranteed the existence of intelligent life with the resources to thrive, but not said life with the ability to be contacted from outside the universe. When I've used this explanation before, I've sometimes had people tell me that "you cannot plan the universe because when a coin is tossed it has a 50/50 chance of landing either way up". This isn't how the universe works, as the coin is guaranteed to land only one way up, and this is determined by how high it was tossed, how much angular velocity is was given, gravity, air resistance etc. The two of these that aren't constants are dependant on how exactly the person throws the coin, and that's influenced by a finite (although nearly infinite) number of factors, each of which are influenced by a finite number of factors, all of which eventually come down to the laws of physics and the first few nanoseconds after the big bang (which is the point at which the theoretical god was theoretically editing things). The only things which may have true randomness are quantum events, and physicists aren't sure about this either, and if they were random, that wouldn't have a huge effect on anything on the same scale as humans.

I am in no way trying to say any religion is right (or in fact wrong, although a lot of them largely seem to be), but at its most basic level, all religion is is believing something you feel explains your existence adequately until it is proven otherwise. This in many ways is the same as the scientific method. The problems occur when people avoid learning the proof otherwise because they've taken their faith too far.

Several catholic bishops lobbied the republican party to cause the shutdown. This is common knowledge. It wasn't even my country that had a government shutdown over providing free healthcare, which should be a basic human right, but somehow isn't.

Cathlolic =/= Christian. Both have similar but obviously different beliefs. Let me put it this way, When I say Christians I mean Protestant Christians.

I'm surprised to see two members of an internet forum that aren't some of the fanatic religious people defending religion.

Gir, I understand you don't like religion and can't understand why people would believe something with no evidence but calling a few billion people crazy because of the actions of a dysfunctional government isn't right.

Technically, St. Peter founded Catholicism, and for hundreds of years it was the only branch that held any authority. Protestantism was formed because the popes and bishops were greedy bastards who taxed people, and spat out rules which weren't stated by the bible itself, while ignoring all the rules themselves. However, protestantism actively ignores large chunks of the bible, allowing divorce, contraception, and even giving vicars the option to perform gay marriages (or at least provide a blessing for civil partnerships). Catholicism ignores fewer of these rules. In general, Catholicism would prefer its followers to obey the bible unquestioningly, and protestants are more into the 'Love thy neighbour' concept. However, they're both technically subsets of Christianity, and as Catholicism is the most popular out of all Christianity's hundreds of flavours, most people will assume you're talking about Catholics.

I don't follow such nonsense AnyOldName3, so I wouldn't know what their current state of opinion is on the matter.

I (and most people) normally avoid going too deep or even start a religious discussion because they usually end up in a flame war which is still a possibility.

The biggest issue I see in general, without pointing my fingers at anyone, is that people blame the religion instead of the person.
Most people break rules, whether it's a law or one of God's laws.

Just taking an example from this thread; Gir states (the whole of) Christians are insane because they caused some shutdown of some government. That statement is obviously very wrong. It's just a group of people who by chance are also Christian that did this. It's unfair to base your opinion of the whole group on that. Had it been an atheist group, then they would still be called insane, but just them since you can't categorize them.

Well i like to say it as it.. and they are crazy, that is how it is... Indeed everytime i switch on the News there is always some sick event caused by religious people... Think of the entire country of Syria, Millions of people displaces, women, children killed by crazy Muslims due to there
psychotic evil beliefs and in Iraq where Suicide Bombings happen daily.

In the US they have frequent Shooters in School, like Adam Lanza who walked into Sandy Hook
and shot dead kids, yet was a Christian and also the guy who went into the Batman Theatre
was also a Christians in-fact even Charles Manson is a Christian... Christians long ago used
to place women on the stake and burn them alive whom where accused of witchcraft..
Hitler (Christians) Joseph Stalin (Georgian Orthadox), I can go on and on.

Hitler was not Christian. Are you dumb or something? To be a Christian you have to believe in Jesus and Hitler didn't. Hitler created his own religion.
