Welp, turns out my motherboard only has PCIe 2.0, so R9 270 who needs 3.0 won't run optimally there.

And the other two also needs 3.0. Guess I'll stick with HD 6870.

I'm pretty sure 2.0 is enough bandwidth (just a guess tho)

So, how about GTX 460? I can get it for a surprisingly cheap price, considering its benchmark performance.

I should add that it's the 768 MB version. The 1 GB one costs quite a bit more.

GTX 768MB version (86.4GB/sec memory bandwidth) can handle up to 4xIR , no AA , 16x AF . However ,you will have to drop down 4xIR to 3xIR for some demanding games
Even though it consumes power like crazy and run quite hot , it's a good card

A PCIe 3.0 card is backwards compatible and will work on a PCIe 2.0 slot. You will not run into any bottlenecks whatsoever with a R9 270.
Heck, for reference, I'm running a R9 280x (rebranded HD7970) in a PCIe 2.0 slot. The difference is really negligible and not worth fussing over.

Go for the R9 270 if you can.

Good enough for me. I don't really see the difference between 4xIR and 3xIR anyways. Same for increasing AA.

I assume it's also good enough for 3xIR in PCSX2, right? Below that, the jagged textures start appearing.

Well, I sure hope I have a decent PSU since it supplies for an i7-4770.

PCSX2 uses Scaling or Custom Resolution , not IR . 3x scaling = 1920x1080
I'm pretty sure my low-end GT 540M (28.8GB/sec memory bandwidth) can handle most demanding games at 1440x1080
GTX 460 768MB version is 3 times faster than my GPU . You could be able to use 4x or even 5x scaling

Well, that's odd. My HD 5570 should be about as strong as your GT 540M but it can't run Nocturne at 3x without going down to 48 FPS. Or FF12 and San Andreas.
