Never thought I'd see the day where SSD heat was an issue.

it's just M.2 SSD alone , normal size SSD should run cooler than a normal hard drive
I'm too , never thought that I would need a heatsink on top of a SSD
Because without it , M.2 SSD will throttle

I could in fact have a mini tower system in one of the side drawers and then open them when using the machine. Cheapest option I am guessing. Off the shelf or parts suggestion would be welcome.

Drawer dimensions please.

Pick your storage.

If you don't like that case, pick most any micro atx mini tower. I didn't actually check if the 1050ti could fit in that case but it probably can.

Can you put it on top of the TV unit instead of in a drawer? This would be a good option: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139079

It can fit in the drawer too but not by much.

that Core V1 pc I build will fit awesomely in the drawer since its dimensions HxWxD are: 28cm x 26cm x 32cm and it will fit that GTX1050ti without a doubt.

As far as I can see the PC Helios build will not boot properly (unless I missed something about kaby lake working out of the box with 1xx chipsets without a biosupdate) and the processor will not get its full potential (although a minor issue) since the processor is optimized for 2400MHz ram and Helios' build has 2133MHz.

My build also gives you on board WIFI and Bluetooth and should run CEMU without problems too.

Biggest difference in price is the mainboard, 16GB's of ram and the storage (which you still have to add on top of Helios' build)

The case itself sports a 20CM fan in the front which is whisper silent and is known to keep high end i7's cool enough with a discrete high end card next to it without the system throttling. I added the Artic heatsink since it should be a bit more silent than the stock Intel cooler and it should also run a bit cooler.

@Helios, the machine you build is also not the smallest or the most silent, I just decided to warn up front that smaller and more silent machines are possible.
But all in all we basically build the same PC Smile
Check my profile for up to date specs.

RAM speed is absolutely insignificant to HTPC performance. You're looking at single percentages in benchmarks. If that.

IGP performance is significantly impacted by RAM speed. And most HTPCs don't use discrete graphics (including nearly all of the ones listed in this thread).
