Hello!
This thread is a sequel of sorts to this 2014 discussion of mine (for reference.)
Very long story short (I first wrote a wall of text, and then edited it all away, nobody's got the time for walls of text on the internet), I managed to delay by one year the buying of a new gamepad for emulation purposes... but I'm back at it. Last year, I have been advised to opt for an Xbox360 controller, as it would be the most "all uses" (would the term "versatile" fit ? English isn't my native language, sorry!) model.
The controller will be used to emulate GameCube games with Dolphin, PS2 games, Snes classics, and some Wii games (the Zelda games, mostly.)
I have two PCs at home on which emulation is ran, with Windows7 and 8.
Please, if it's not asking too much, could I ask you guys a few questions about this Xbox360 controller ?
- Wireless / Still with a wire: I'm assuming that it won't be an issue for emulating, as it's all OS-drivers-managed, right ? Or should I go, for safety, for a model still with a wire ?
- I'm seeing some models with "/ PC" in the title of the item (for instance on Amazon), while some models don't come with the "PC" in the title.
Are these two different kinds of Xbox360 controllers ? Or just the same stuff, with a name altered to compel PC customers into buying the item ?
- Wii emulation: I know I must give up on motion sensing (adieu, Mario Galaxy, sob !), but for Wii games that don't need that, like RPGs or Mario Kart, and on top of all for the Wii Zelda games, the Xbox360 controllers are good, aren't they ?
- Zelda-centric question: I've always been a huge sucker for the Zelda games, so I'd like to ask you, for safety, that controller should be working well to play the Zelda games on Game Cube as well as Wii ?
If not, I'd be welcoming recommendations for another controller
One precision, though, I'm not rolling on money and I'd dislike to buy tons of plastic and electronics (guilty green conscience here), so I'm not going to buy the official controllers for each console, it's got to be one-for-all
I know these are a lot of questions, thank you so much if you have the time to help
