I'm going to upgrade my computer in the near future and i'm thinking about the new processor. I want to spend 150 max for the new processor, should I buy an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400, 4x 2.67GHz or an Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (C0), 2x 3.16GHz? I'm not so much into overclocking ._.

Dolphin doesn't support quad so dual core.
Specs: intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz;
16Gb RAM; Raedon HD 7900; Win8 64-Bit 09-14-2009, 05:51 AM
I Whould go with the dual core if you want to play Dolphin Since its runs at 3.16GHz. But If you want to play other games the Quad is the way to go

Throw a coin, both would do wonders anyways.

Quad Core...didn't anyone say that die dev team will add a feature that uses a third core for the sound?
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.00GHz OC
Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 4,00GB DDR2 800MHz Ram Windows7 Build 7229 64Bit
That was only a possible option to where use the others 2 cores , Dolphin only uses two cores because one core emulates the CPU and other the GPU , so the other two cores were uselees because there is noting left to emulate ( unless the thirth core were used on audio or anything. Or the CPU and GPU emulation use two cores each one instead of one)

There is only dual core support planned.

I personally would go with a quadcore for *futureproofness*
