Hey guys, I am about start a fork of QtDolphin that will use QML instead of regular QWidgets. My hopes is to make a "console like" experience when launching the emulator. I assume at this point nobody is actively working on another frontend (at least, nothing on the Qt side). If anybody is interested in working on a QML version of the launcher/front-end, please let me know. Thanks.

Ignore the "2" in the name, it's written in Qt5. 05-07-2016, 09:30 AM

Helios: No offensive, but what's wrong with QML? C++ is likely one of the worst language to write a GUI, so using such a layer might sound good.

I was thinking more because we already have effort going into a Qt UI being designed in one way. I don't really care how they do it, QML or no, but if we have *yet another* Qt rewrite in master, we'll be at our, what. 3rd? 4th? Rewrite. It seems the people working on "Qt2" are fine with the way it's being written now. I'd rather not step on their toes by being gung-ho about merging yet another rewrite of it.
Perhaps I shouldn't have said that they shouldn't expect it to be merged, but I'd be against the idea of merging it into master. 05-08-2016, 06:30 AM
Likewise I'd be against the idea of merging it as well. Please consider communicating with the devs working on the Qt frontend on IRC or some other form of contact about the possibility of using QML instead of the widgets instead of making 'yet another fork'. There have already been four attempts at variations of Qt in the past, and three of them have died off. Merging another fork and hoping it gets somewhere like the other three would be bordering on ridiculous at this point.

Which IRC channel does the Qt frontend devs use? Would e-mail work better? I tried to contact them a couple months ago but got no response. Thanks.
