FYI:
1. Things are definitely running; I've tried two or three games so far...a bit slow/choppy, but usable.
2. In "qobjectdefs.h", line 535, I changed the code "...result_of..." to "...invoke_result..." (my local copy only, of course) and now I can compile as the ".sln"!
a. To the good: it runs; still just as slow/choppy
b. To the bad: somehow, it DIDN'T magically enhance my understanding of the code
