Is Qt interface going to be the standard interface by Dolphin 6 release? Or are you guys thinking about keeping it a WIP for even longer past the next stable release. Also, I was wondering how difficult it would be in the Qt interface to make the controller editors have the fake analog sticks so you can test how your analog sticks move in the software, and also for testing the buttons, like how the button turns red if you're pressing it. I know that Qt is still in development so maybe I'm asking for something that was already planned, but I was just wondering.

Nobody knows... Dolphin 6 would mean a complete feature freeze first and then months of regression testing/fixing and milestone fixing. And there is no idea yet when they will announce it. It might be tomorrow... it might be next year... it might even be never.
Check my profile for up to date specs.

Definitely not tomorrow!

I know QT is popular, but I've always used the wXWidget in Linux and it's always been great, but has it been problematic?

I don't personally use Qt, but I occasionally check it every now and then and compare it to Wx interface and Qt is always far behind expectations. I would expect all the buttons and menus to be present by now (i.e. not the analog stick and button simulations, just normal buttons) but there are still many menus and buttons missing. I know it's in development, but I think there should be a day where one dev just sits there comparing the Wx interface with the Qt and just starts copying everything from the Wx interface and then have some conversation on GitHub about different potential locations of buttons and menus, to make it more user friendly, instead of what is happening right now, where one button is added every week and no one is really dedicated to the Qt interface. I don't care too much about Qt, but since they say it's much easier to add new buttons and menus with it, I would think that they would devote major time to make it supersede Wx quickly and get Wx out of the way, instead of keeping Wx the dominant interface and updating both interfaces when new features are added. I forget how long the Qt interface has been part of dolphin, but I'm just saying it's been a long time and I believe it's the time to heavily work on Qt and make it equal to Wx and then ditch Wx. 11-12-2017, 08:34 AM
Why do you think that we assign people to do anything?
This is not how unpaid OSS works. People work on whatever they feel like whenever they feel like. Could be 8 hours a day, could be 1 hour a month. Anyways, have you opened the Qt UI recently? AFAIK it's just missing the debugger. 11-12-2017, 08:40 AM

These are the things that I have found different between Wx and Qt interface. Everything listed means it is MISSING in Qt or there is something wrong with it in Qt. When something is wrong, I will say something is wrong, when something is missing, I will simply list it without any further explanation. File menu: Change disc, eject disc, boot from DVD backup, refresh game list, Emulation menu: Stop Movie menu: TAS input Configuration window: Interface tab: Auto adjust window size, keep window on top, render to main window are also in Graphics window General tab GameCube tab: NOT PRESENT ON QT Wii tab: NOT PRESENT ON QT Paths tab: Search subfolders option, dump path, SD card path Graphics window: General tab: Enable Multi-threading | Auto adjust window size, keep window on top, render to main window are also in Configuration window Interface tab Enhancements tab: Ubershaders dropdown, HDMI 3D not present in Stereoscopic 3D Mode dropdown, Depth and Convergence sliders have no indicators and are not centered correctly Advanced tab: Borderless fullscreen Controllers window: No message indicating that no supported Bluetooth devices could be found GameCube standard controller window: analog stick and button simulations, middle click does not clear entry, both the Device and Profile dropdowns have 1 blank entry and when refresh button is clicked Device entry becomes blank and you cannot edit controls when it's blank which is annoying and blank entries should be removed, iterative input missing, clear button does not clear and instead applies default config but with different threshold radius and dead zone values, loading new profile changes device to blank value, editing a profile then renaming it then clicking save will overwrite the original profile without the new name Configure control window: Range is missing -500 and 500 min and max values at edges of slider, Bound Controls indicator at bottom of window, Qt has "?" in title bar which is dysfunctional (wrong type of window used?) GameCube adapter for Wii U window: has question mark in title bar (wrong type of window used?) Steering wheel window to DK Bongos: <exact same as standard controller window> Keyboard window: oddly enough, this window has the iterative input option, while the standard GameCube controller window does not Wii remote window: General and Options tab: Blank entry in Device and Profile dropdowns, Hotkeys subsection has a duplicate threshold option, extension dropdown doesn't get updated by newly loaded profile (window needs to be closed and reopened to update extension automatically.) Extension tab: Guitar subsection: Slider bar subsection is missing Hotkey window: Background and Iterative input missing, other state management tab missing, clear button applies default profile Tools menu: Memory card manager, import BootMii NAND backup is included in load GameCube main menu context menu which I don't believe fits there, Cheat manager, FIFO player, Connect Wii Remotes (however I don't think this is necessary in Tools menu anyways) Start Netplay window: question mark in title bar. View menu: Show toolbar, show status bar, show drives, purge game list cache Log tab: right clicking on black console is missing: cut, paste, delete, undo, and redo. Configuration window Audio tab seems to be only place where tooltips are present (mouse hover text) All windows except graphics window should have tooltips, that's including controller editor windows. |
