On my Galaxy S8 I use a wired Xbox 360 controller for Windows with a USB-C adapter. Has worked with all emulated games so far.

If you're going to use a PS3 controller, you will need to be aware that while you assign the d-pad,
you can't use the d-pad of your PS3 controller, you have to use the left thumb stick. I've tried the d-pad, but it only recognizes 2 as a directional axis, the other 2 it will recognize as a button. When using the thumb stick, you must keep in mind that all the directional axis you assign are the opposite of what you normally would assign. (Something like Up is Right, etc..., it makes total sence if you turn the controller 90° counter clockwise, because somehow that is how Dolphin thinks you're holding the controller, probably something to do with how the original wiimote is ) In the end you sbould have something like this Up - Sony Ps3.... axis 0- Down - Sony Ps3.... axis 0+ Left - Sony Ps3.... axis 1+ Right - Sony Ps3.... axis 1- You have to assign it as a wiimote, otherwise it says unsupported external controller while the game starts.
