Henrik Rydgard is his full name. I've never associated the name with ector before, though.

I'm sorry I was just asking, I'm not trying to start a flame war, it's just that I'm trying to figure out that if the Dolphin Emu team could work on the Wii, couldn't you work on the PS3? Just curious, like I said trying not to start any flame wars.

Edit: Also if you read my top profile, I am indeed Autistic, so please forgive me if I have said or done anything wrong Sad

Apart from the usual being able to play console games on your PC thing, will there really be that many advantages to emulating systems from the 7th Gen, the 6th gen had some really significant advances, the biggest probably being HD gameplay, i'm not seeing much happening in the 7th (unless you're a savestate freak) and if you start taking financial matters into context it just doesn't seem it might be worth all the trouble.

If you're a programmer and you want a challenge, emulating the PS3 would be a good target (among the other crazy things you could do). If people start working now, little by little, we'll be able to get there over the years. In terms of hardware preservation, I always think it's a great idea to provide some sort of emulation (hardware or software) that will keep games around long after the original systems have stopped being manufactured. Be it Sony or the FOSS community, as long as the threat of games getting lost to time exists, someone needs make sure this type of media is preserved.

There are many advantages actually like screenshots, videos recording, custom shaders, custom textures, fast-forwarding, slow motion, any controllers/controller profiles, and maybe 4K+ resolution.

Screenshots and video recording are part of the feature set of modern game consoles.

AFAIK, not all PS3 games or all screens allow taking screenshots. As for videos recording, an additional hardware is needed.

Biggest advantage, imo, would be to use any controller I want to play PS3 games. Most of my controllers are PS-style anyway though... but it's the principle that counts!

All true but as time goes on most of these advantages will eventually be implemented into the console (if the PC doesn't completely take over the gaming market that is), the need for emulators for future systems will grow less and less, until one day it whittles and.....

I'll be waiting for Sony to let any Playstation be played with any HID compliant USB controller. I'll also be waiting for Sony (or anyone else) to support their consoles perpetually into the future (even after they stop being a company) so that history is preserved as well. :p
