I checked things out in msconfig and see no mention of SCP. What am I doing wrong?

It it's not there check computer management and make sure startup mode is set to Automatic.

I'm pretty sure if you followed the instructions exactly, it'd work, you're doing something wrong during the installation phase, please re-check, uninstall everything, yes, even the X360 drivers and start all over, make the X360 drivers the first thing you install.

EDIT: I just looked at your sig for the first time and noticed that your OS is Windows 8.1, whilst your profile says 7, so which is it? i've never used 8.1/8 so i don't know how well it works there or if this just might be an issue with the OS and not the program.

My profile? My signature is my current computer. My profile may be my old computer which had Windows 7. Sorry for the confusion. In case my sig didnt update, it's:

"Clevo W230SS : CPU: Intel i7-4710MQ|GPU: GTX 860M |RAM: 8GB @ 1600 MHz & CAS9|500GB HDD @ 5400 RPM| Windows 8.1"
