It works fine with a PS3 controller. Just install MotioninJoy. When it's installed, plugin your controller. Install the drivers, then click the 2nd option (on the mainpage). Then click on enable (should be a bit down on the main page). Then select SDL input on Dolphin and map your buttons.

Certainly, if you don't find a PS3 connection first. The wireless 360 controller by itself isn't enough for a PC, you need Microsoft's USB receiver as well. If you're lucky you can find them bundled together. The 'wired' controllers are cheaper and you don't have to worry about batteries, older ones don't install a windows driver automatically but Microsoft keeps updated drivers for free on its support website.

Question though where should i get started in finding these drivers no need for links (if thats not allowed or something) i can find them if i get the names or pointed in the right direction 11-19-2011, 05:14 AM
Theodore, they're in the application itself, MotionInJoy.
Open DS3Tool, then click on 'Driver Manager'. There you select your controller and hit 'Load driver'. When that's done, head to 'Home' and hit the 2nd option @ modes. Finally, hit the enable button thats purple. Now it should work. Remember to change the input in Dolphin too. 11-19-2011, 05:25 AM

Wow that actually works, wow so now it comes down to mapping it and that seems fairly easy or should i just look up a GC controller and map it to my ps3 layout? What is the easiest you think would work. (11-19-2011, 05:14 AM)Garteal Wrote: Theodore, they're in the application itself, MotionInJoy. Errr, well i got the mapping done, but now i cant seem to find out how to use the controller or adjust the settings to USE it with dolphin its mapped to the second pad..but how to i get around to using that exact pad to play
It depends on what games you're playing on the Wii/GC.
If you're playing wii-games: if the game supports the classic controller, change the extension to classic and map it there. If it doesn't and the game is not motion-dependant, you can simply map them on the wiimote and if needed the extension as nunchuck. For Gamecube games it would be pretty straightforward. EDIT: Theodore, you can just post a reply instead of editing (only do it when you have to post two constructive posts for some reason) that way we can see there's a new reply. What do you mean? Can you give me some screenshots? Make sure your settings look as the attachment. Change the extension to what you use. Post a screenshot of this screen aswell. 11-19-2011, 06:23 AM
i did like you siad for the GC controller got that working so that problem is done, now another problem has occured can i use the same controller as a Wii mote? or would i have to buy a BT dongle and get a Wii mote?
11-19-2011, 06:45 AM
Yes, I said before that you can do that. But if you want motion control you have to get a Wiimote and a Dongle AND a sensor bar.

Alright now where in the hell would i find a sensor bar i have check gamestop and best buy but neither sell one, they sell dongles and wii motes but no sensors
option 1: Wireless 360 controllers wont work with pc using the charging cable, buy the wireless 360 dongle for windows or a 360 wired controller
option 2: install xpadder- assign your keyboard keys to your controller buttons using xpadder then assign those keyboard keys to your wiimote / game cube plugin - play using your controller :3 (11-19-2011, 09:15 AM)TheodoreBears Wrote: Alright now where in the hell would i find a sensor bar i have check gamestop and best buy but neither sell one, they sell dongles and wii motes but no sensors Do you have a string of Christmas lights? , plug them in. then hide all but 2 of them, try to get them even, then point them at your play space - Tada! instant wired sensor bar! |
