Ps2 controller detected in setup, not in game

I'm using a PS2 controller connected via a simple usb dangle (it's just usb one way ps2 connector thingie the other). In some games it works natively that way, like the state of decay beta where it just worked. In other cases like Dark souls I have to use x360ce.

Nevertheless generally it's in working condition. Now I've tried to configure it and play Monster Hunter Tri with it, but it seems as soon as I start emulating it's either not being detected or something is overwriting it.

This is my config:

The right stick is apparently off center but it doesn't seem to affect anything in games. I bound the keys while looking at the classic wii controller so I think I got the button layout right.

Port 1 in the gamecube section is set to "Standard Controller", and I've tried it with the wiimote 1 set to none and emulate. Nothing seems to work.

It's also worth mentioning that I'm a dolphin noob so if you want me to make a specific test or imput dump you'll have to tell me how to do it :P (or at least where an option for that is).

PS. I have searched for the issue but the only solution I found was related to Port 1 set to "none" in the gamecube section, if this has been answered before than I'm sorry. Dolphin 4.0 x64

EDIT: Removed the image, going to upload it to an image host and repost cause it bugged out.
EDIT2: Done.

I'm pretty sure MHT doesn't use the GC controller

Really? I could have sworn it can use the classic controller O_o

Edit: How would I go around that than? Emulate a wiimote as a ps2 controller? that sounds a bit odd tbh.

It can, but that isn't a GC controller, that is a wiimote extension.

Ok than, I'm looking in the wiimote section (dolphin wiimote configuration) to find the classic controller setup but I can't see anything there. Are you supposed to run it as an emulated wiimote? How does one go about configuring that? if that's a silly question than I guess I'll search about the forum a bit more.

Yes, you will want an emulated wiimote, it should be under "Extensions"

Ah ok, found it and configured just the extension (I left the wiimote config unchanged and only modified the button on the classic setup).
Started the game and... nothing. I went into config and disabled the gamecube controller on the first port and left the emulated wiimote on and nothing. The thresholds seem to have been removed upon looking at the config again but, regardless still nothing.

EDIT: Ok I think I got it working. You see previously I placed a save state in the main menu after the intro (since I couldn't skip it without a working controller), so what I would do is start the emulation press f1 and check if the buttons are working. They didn't.
This time though I've clicked my way through the intro and it seems to work, so the save state was messing up the controls somehow.

Anyway issue is resolved for now thanks for help dude Smile.

Not the issue, but your C-Stick is off-center because you mapped Left as "Axis Zr+-" rather than just "Axis Z-".

OK so as I said I have most of the problems resolved. There is one issue though that might be unsolvable in my case but I decided to ask. You know how monster registering works in tri? You have to point the wiimote at the screen and than drag the monster to the bottom right corner. Having never played a monster hunter game before I don't know if that's important or not.

Nevertheless not having a working wiimote I have to look for alternative solution... there is an alternative solution right? RIGHT Q_Q?

I don't know if MH3 still requires you to use the Wii Remote for that if you have the Classic Controller connected (if so, that's the first instance of simultaneous CC/Wii Remote use I've heard of in a game), but you still have an emulated Wii Remote set up with the default controls, so if it *does* still use the remote for that, you should be able to just use your mouse to point.
