Hi apologies as this is about an N64 emulator - but could anyone tell me if the Project 64 emulator runs games at exactly the same frame rate as the real hardware? I know there are tweaks you can apply to run certain games at a higher fps but I mean without tweaks?

Project 64 runs at same frame rate as N64?

Nope. For some reason, PJ64 emulates every game with -double- the framerate (N64 rendered graphics on 30 FPS although there may be some exceptions).
For instance, if you try a N64 Virtual Console title on Dolphin, you´ll see perfectly that it won´t go over 30 FPS. Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

But I have fraps running at the same time and it says 20fps in Zelda, 30 in Mario, 24-35 in Goldeneye etc. are you sure that's not another emulator?

20 FPS for both N64 Zelda games and 30 FPS for Super Mario 64 is intended on actual hardware. Emulators should run on the same FPS therefore.

It does for games that had locked frame rates, but I was wondering about those with variable frame rates like Goldeneye..

They'll usually lag less on an emulator unless timings are implemented accurately.

Ahh thanks - as I say Goldeneye runs between 20-35 fps - if the emulator lags less, why wouldn't it run much faster? I'm not doubting you, just curious..
