Uh... You know, the Qualcomm drivers are made by Qualcomm, not us...

I've seen a couple of youtube videos where Dolphin emulating Mario Kart on the Shield runs about 45fps, but those were rendered un 1080p.
Can somebody test it setting the internal resolution to 1x and 2x? I'm thinking about buying a Shield for light gaming and emulation, and I would love to know if it can run mario kart wii on 720p. Thank you! 12-15-2017, 04:01 AM
it runs it, it's hard to make a video cuzz Shield TVs video capture makes it run slower. Shield TV can to anything from Atari 2600 to some Wii, maybe PS2 coming soon and streaming options from Vortex for games like GTA5 and Fallout 4 to local streaming from a gaming PC and GEForce Now game streaming service. Also, cord cutter apps, Google assistant and Smart things smart devices.
I friggin love my 2 Shield TVs. 12-15-2017, 04:21 AM

Can you please activate the "Show FPS" option and see how many fps do you get while gaming on a "Mari Kart Wii" race, while setting the "Internal resolution" to: - 1x Native (640x528) - 2x Native (1280x1056) for 720p - 3x Native(1920x1584) for 1080p If it can run at between 55 - 60fps constant on 720p without many sound issues, I will buy it. I would thank you a lot if anybody can try this! 12-21-2017, 08:35 AM

I would thank you a lot if anybody can try this! The Shield TV can now emulate most gamecube games at full speed when using Vulkan backend at native resolution. Some GameCube games that I have tested and can confirm that run full speed with 40-50% overclock are as follows: (Native Resolution, Full Speed) Super Mario Sunshine Mario Kart: Double Dash Super Smash Bros Melee Simpsons Hit & Run Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 Zelda Wind Waker Zelda Twilight Princess Pikmin 1 & 2 Paper Mario: TTYD Soul Calibur 2 Luigi's Mansion (720p, Full Speed) Mario Kart: Double Dash Super Smash Bros Melee Simpsons Hit & Run Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 Zelda Wind Waker Luigi's Mansion Games that have problems due to Vulkan are as follows: Super Monkey Ball 2 Metroid Prime As for Wii games.. I haven't really tried that many because I don't have access to an IR bar or Wiimote at this moment. Though I have emulated the controls on a few games and found out the following: Games that work full speed at native resolution with various overclock: New Super Mario Bros Wii Kirby's Epic Yarn Simpsons Game Smash Bros Brawl Other Wii games that I've tried either don't run full speed or have heavy graphical problems with Vulkan that make it unplayable. The shield TV is a fantastic emulation device in its own right, and emulating GameCube and Wii games is just a nice bonus. Also, in-case you didn't already know it seems that Nintendo will be releasing proper 1080p ports of older GameCube and Wii games on the Shield TV over the course of next year. This is another great reason to own one as it has the same Tegra X1 CPU that is inside the Nintendo Switch. I hope this helps! 12-21-2017, 10:24 AM

I was under the impression it was only in China that this was happening, probably because Nintendo aren't selling many consoles there, and so reselling ports of old games is exploiting an untapped market, whereas releasing the same ports elsewhere could undermine sales of their own hardware.

Oh, which games have such graphical problems? The video backend should not matter on the shield TV. Have you checked the game settings for those games? We lack to copy the "GameSettings" folder. Are this bugs still valid if you don't underclock the emulated CPU? If those ways still don't fix the games, might you please try to test the cached interpreter? I'd be interested in a list of games which can be fixed in this way. Sorted by the time needed to verify this issue. This would help me *a lot* to fix such issues. 12-24-2017, 11:25 PM
