Alright, I have two real Wiimotes, not genuine Nintendo controllers, but cheap knock-offs. I've spent days trying to get them working with my PC / Dolphin. They work flawlessly with my friends Wii, and they also did with my PC. However, when the controllers worked, I used my old Bluetooth dongle (the cheapest one from DealExtreme) and with that dongle, it was not possible to use 2 Wiimotes simultaneously, the controllers always disconnected and/or started acting really weird.

So, I bought a new bluetooth dongle. I was told that it works great even with many devices connected. This one, to be exact. I installed the software/stack that came with it and then my computer started crashing. I tried many stacks and drivers, but none of them worked properly. Toshiba would not detect even the dongle, MS stack connects but it doesn't work in Dolphin, and Bluesoleil doesn't find the option to use them as HID-devices.

I would like to know that is this because of the dongle, or is there some software or drivers I'm missing? I'm really lost here right now. Confused

EDIT: Also, I'd like to add that sometimes, though very rarely, the controller connects in Dolphin when clicking "Auto-pair", but even if I manage to get ingame, the buttons stop working and Dolphin does not recognize the controller anymore. This is with MS stack.

It appears to me that you've trashed your OS with so many stacks. Are you using win7? You have to be sure that all the drivers and stacks for your new dongle are win7 compatible (if that's your OS).

You said it crashed as soon as you installed the soft for your dongle, so you should ask your dongle vendor instead.

Yes, I'm using Win 7 (64 bit version). I asked the vendor about the crashing and he said that there has been some problems with the drivers included in the CD, and I've seen posts about that here on the forums, too (Broadcom / Widdcom drivers). The vendor recommended that I use the Toshiba or Bluesoleil stack, if updating the Widdcom drivers won't fix it (and it didn't). I've always uninstalled the old stack and drivers before installing new ones, and also cleaned the registry etc. Is there any other software options I would be able to test (stacks / drivers) to be sure that the problem has nothing to with them?

You can try Toshiba first, since bluesoleil is not free. Bluesoleil was the only stack that worked for me, however you should check if it supports multiple devices connected simultaneously because I only have one Wiimote.

As I said in my first post, I have tried Toshiba already, and it didn't even recognize the dongle! Strange... Smile But now it seems that the dongle is completely broken somehow, my PC doesn't even recognize it anymore. I haven't touched it since I plugged it in when I was installing the drivers. Also, in the setup manual of the dongle it says that it supports multiple devices simultaneously, but now that it's broken, I assume, it doesn't matter.

If the problem is in the dongle, I think I'll have to buy a new one so, which one would you prefer? Any brands/models that are guaranteed working? It would be great if I could have one from Finland, so the time of delivery wouldn't be so long.

It's really hard to find any information of these from the web Undecided

I've tried that too. Wink With my older dongle, it connected but I could only use 1 wiimote at a time. With my new dongle, it "connects" but does not pair it up as HID device. So, that's no help. Now I would think that because even Bluesoleil is not the answer, the problem would most likely be the dongle, am I right?

It's very unlikely that your dongle is broken. If you can, try it on another machine and see if it gets detected.

But I really think that it's a problem with the system, so... a fresh Win7 install maybe one solution, but then you should be sure that you are installing software compatible with your dongle.

I tried the new dongle with my old laptop and it didn't work. Even the power LED which should flash and stay on whenever it's plugged in, detected or not, stayed off. So, yeah, I think it is broken. Undecided

Right now I'm using my old dongle and I've been testing it with Toshiba and Bluesoleil. They both work pretty good, except for Toshiba, which disconnects the contoller immediately if I don't press any buttons in 30 seconds. The only problem I have right now is that the dongle only supports one controller at a time, and the fact that Bluesoleil is kinda expensive (as I have already spent so many euros on the controllers and the dongles).

Anyways, I was browsing the shops today and I found this dongle. It comes with Bluesoleil, but the seller wasn't sure if it would work with multiple devices, so now I'm waiting an answer from the manufacturer about that. Let's see what happens.
