Hi, I'm having a problem playing Metroid Prime using a Generic USB PC Controller. For those who don't know this controller is exactly like a PS2 Controller. The situation is: the analog stick and the D-pad buttons use the same axis. That means that if I push a button on D-pad it automatically activates the analog stick. That was fine until I tried to play Metroid Prime, since I'm crazy about the Metroid franchise. However having the d-pad and the analog executing the same function is a problem since they have different functions within this game. Every time I move to the left using the analog stick, Samus changes her visor to the Scan Visor, which makes it impossible for me to battle since it automatically changes the from Combat Visor to Scan Visor. Is there a way to make the analog stick and the d-pad to have different functions? Or should I simply buy a GC controller?

Is there any kind of identification on the controller? Anyway, I think some USB controllers will try to map D-pad and left analog stick together as a "convenience" for users. Usually there's a way to turn it off or switch which one can/can't be used. For example, most of the Logitech ones have an additional physical button that switches input from D-pad to analog stick.
You might end up getting a new controller if there is no way to separate the D-pad and analog stick input. There are plenty of PS style controllers out there, and if you're in the market for GameCube style controllers, I like the Wired Fight Pad Pro by PDP is cheap and very comfortable. They should work on PCs and for Dolphin, but do note that I have not personally tested this out myself. 01-01-2020, 06:21 AM

Ltomex is a very generic brand of electronic products here in Brazil but the controller works fine except for my complain in Metroid Prime. Anyway I think I'll just order a GC Controller from AliExpress since I found some really good prices on that site. I'll order a Bessclover GC Controller from them since I think there's no way to change the axis on the standard controller...I've tried changing in the config menu and searching in on websites but nothing works :/ |
