I just got a new computer, but I've been having problems with fps drops while playing Super Smash Bros. Melee. Everything is upgraded, better ram, better cpu, went from gtx 660 to rtx 2060, but still i have major problems. The old pc was flawless at running this game. I have all the same settings from the previous pc.

Is there anyone else having problems with a newer pc, gpu, or drivers? And if anyone has managed to fix it, I would love to know how.

Did you reinstall your operating system? Or just slapped in new parts and let Windows update itself?

It's a completely new pc. The old one is sitting next to it, in case I never figure out how to get melee to run properly on this pc. I have a feeling it has something to do with the newer versions of nvidia drivers, but i don't know yet.

Ah gotcha, the wording threw me off, thought you just put new parts in to the old computer Tongue

Here are some things to check:
-Get the latest dev build of Dolphin from this site (not faster melee)
-Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and go to Manage 3D settings, then setup a profile for Dolphin to use maximum performance
-Go to Windows Power Options and set the power plan to Maximum performance
-Check for all Windows updates
-Make sure you have the latest NVIDIA drivers from NVIDIA.com, and not Windows update

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried them all, but nothing helped.

Have you made sure the graphics drivers are all installed properly? You should be able to max out games at 1080 with that card.

What CPU are you using now exactly?

Show us the settings you're using. It may be affecting your performance if you downloaded a fresh copy of dolphin.

He has a Ryzen 7 2600x in his profile... so I guess that is the most important part. Which should be able to play most games reliably. What we actually need to know is WHAT games he is trying to play, and what the OLD CPU was (Ryzen has about the IPC of HASWELL (4th gen/4000series Intel CPU's) so if he had a 6th gen or higher Intel he could see a bit of degradation)

What IS kind of important to know about his setup is if he is using the XMP profile in the BIOS for his RAM on this machine as Ryzen gets a lot faster when using faster RAM.

Another thing to keep in mind are indeed the exact settings for the game: eg. if he put 6xIR + 8x SSAA he is actually playing the game at 6x8=48xIR and most GPU's really aren't able to handle that *must say that I haven't tried it myself yet on my 2080ti though* Smile
Check my profile for up to date specs.
