Recently I've gotten Dolphin and several copies of my Gamecube games because the idea of higher quality picture, not having to deal with a gameshark for messing around with cheats and texture packs appealed to me. The problem is for some reason I do not know, Twilight Princess won't load up the textures.I know how to dump and load textures and I have gotten it working without a problem in Windwaker [USA GCN], Starfox Adventues [USA GCN] and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door [USA GCN]. I managed to change the colour of Tetra's scarf, Krystal's fur and the Paper Mario logo on the start screen. The one thing I can't change for some reason is Midna's texture in Twilight Princess [USA GCN].

I first started off with dumping the textures, then finding the one I wanted (there were a few Midna textures for some reason) and editing it. I saved it the same way I did with the others, as a PNG (and also as a TGA just to make sure). I then placed the texture in it's appropriately named folder within User/Load/Textures/GZ2E01. The folder name was the same as it was in the dump folder. However for some reason even though custom textures were enabled there was no visible difference in the game. I originally had texture cache set to safe though also tried it on fast. I downloaded Insaneslug's HD texture pack to see if that would work, renamed the game code at the start of his Midna texture to match my one (GZ2E01 in this case) and placed it in the correct folder. I even created a folder inside that called Personage and put an extra copy of the texture in there to match the file structure as it was in the pack. No luck.

Does Twilight Princess have certain issues with textures at all? Insaneslug's texture pack is originally made for the Wii version but they give tutorials on how to convert it to GCN so I assume that this isn't common.

First off, make sure it's not a bad rom, Mine are working fine, and never use a wii's textures, even converted. It may be of higher resolution or that which is not processed by the gamecube version. Of course it can work for some people, but didn't work for me, i just found GC textures:p. Otherwise, if you really want those textures, make sure you're converting right, and make sure it's not a bad rom.

Check the MD5 hash of your dump to verify that it's correct. For the NTSC-U version of the game, you should get an MD5 hash like this: 41deff9b1fd2831f48fbfa2dd1054e4d

There are plenty of tools out there that can generate MD5 hashes for files if you need to get one; md5sum even has a Windows version.

MD5 hashes is good with its built-in tools! If someone is interested to use NTSC-U versionand then this is he best solution for MD5 hash. Just try at once!

Tried using md5sum and it is still not clear how to use it even when the site has instructions. I found one example that said to install something called PowerToy along with it but it only works on Windows XP.

md5sum is a commandline tool; you can use CMD.exe to get to the commandline interface on Windows. There are GUI-based programs that can generate MD5 hashes. Google for them if you need to.

That's the hash for it that I got with Stellarworks MD5 Hash Generator. The file was a GCM and it was the US version of the game.

What exactly does this tell you anyway? Would all 100% working versions of a gamerip even have the same hash despite there being different ripping methods and file formats for the game?

All perfect 1:1 byte for byte copies of that game should have the same MD5 hash. If any byte changes, the MD5 hash will change. This is a way to ensure data integrity. Your MD5 hash does not match what it should be: http://www.gametdb.com/Wii/GZ2E01

Your dump is not correct, so first of all redump your game until the hashes match. Getting a good dump may take care of all of your problems; if not we'll have to keep looking for the problem. For now, try redumping your game.

Well is there a different ripping tool besides CleanRip that I could use then? That's the one I used and had a lot of trouble getting to work "properly". Preferably one where I don't have to format my USB drive to NTFS, I gave up a long time ago on trying to read that format.

I prefer CleanRip exclusively, so I don't use any other Homebrew. You can try USBLoaderGX, and there are a couple of other rippers available (try searching on http://wiibrew.org for similar software). We can help you with CleanRip problems if you want; personally I prefer dumping to an SD card even though I have capable USB drives preformatted in NTFS. Perhaps that might help you as well?
