Problem with Wii Motion Inside Plus Nunchuk

Hello everybody,

I recently purchased the Wii Motion Inside Plus Nunchuk and have been experiencing some issues. I have included below the technical information on how I am running Dolphin

Controller: Wii Motion Inside Plus Nunchuk
Operating System: OsX Sierra 10.12.4
Dolphin Version: 5.0
Hardware: Macbook Pro Core i5 2.5 GHz ‑ 4 G

Now onto the issue:

I was able to easily pair my controller using bluetooth and the Hexadecimal-to-ASCII converter (the new Wii Remotes register as RVL-CNT-01-TR)

However, I am experiencing two problems. When I try to play Metroid Other M, the B button somehow doesn't get recognized (I press it but nothing...). When I try to play Zelda or Metroid Trilogy, the Wii cursor doesn't show up on my screen, hence I can't go passed the start menu.

That said, once I pair the remote with the Dolphin, I get the "rumble" confirming the remote is paired. Buttons are recognized in the "Controller" pannel but when I play a game, only some buttons seem to be working.

Is there a way to address this? Thanks much!

Do you have a sensor bar? If not, you need to get one.

Hello JosJuice,

I don't have a sensor bar. I was under the impression that only bluetooth would do the job. Any you would recommend?

While the sensor bar may fix the cursor issue, do we have any solve for the B button not being "recognized" when playing certain games?

Thanks!

There are several third-party sensor bars that are powered by either USB or batteries. Any of them should work fine. Note that you probably don't want to buy a "DolphinBar" (a sensor bar combined with a Bluetooth adapter connected in a special way) if you already have working Bluetooth – just buy a regular sensor bar.

I don't remember the Other M controls well, but chances are that you're supposed to use the B button while pointing at the screen. If that's the case, what goes wrong is that the game can't detect that you're pointing at the screen because you don't have a sensor bar.

Thanks JosJuice,

that makes sense. Is the sensorbar something I just put on top of the TV (my mac is plugged to my TV)? or am I supposed to pair that with the computer's bluetooth first and have it on top of the computer screen?

Thanks much!

Yes. Put it above or below the screen you're playing on.

No. Sensor bars don't use Bluetooth – the only thing they do is emit infrared light.
