I encountered a really strange problem, which is either is an isssue with how emulator handles the game or the rom itself is faulty. I simply can not go upwards after choosing the first home at the beggining of the game. Every other direction works fine. If I go down the area I still can't go back up. It's like there was some impassable object preventing character from changing the area. Anyone has any idea how to fix that? Or at least what may be causing this. The only thing I changed in options was to set the native resolution to 1920x1584.
Problem with original Animal Crossing on GC.

I can traverse normally through the whole map, as long as it is left, right or downwards. But not upwards. It's like there's an inanimate wall there. Screen just doesn't shift up. If you're talking about controlling my character, it works fine in all directions. It's just the screen. This is first time I've seen glitch like this, even though I've played through a lot of emulated games. Everything apart from this works completely fine. Maybe the forced cutscene locks the screen somehow. And I cannot check this because this goddamn tree thing won't allow me to save. 08-29-2018, 02:54 AM

But well, I copied configuration from this site: https://gist.github.com/rustybailey/7063...ace40fd96c How in hell, can I describe the situation in a more simplier manner. Whole map of the game, I think, is made in a form of a square grid. When you walk to edge of one of such "squares" (for example the starting one) with your character, it then switches to another. Therefore, you can traverse through the map. You can see this effect perfectly at the beggining of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj0O81AwMr4 But whenever I walk upwards this switching effect does not happen, no matter what "square" I am on. Therefore I can not progress further upwards, which makes the game unplayable. That's it to the explanation. I'm guessing no one here played original animal crossing. Me neither. Thats why I'm so eager to do so. I'm just trying to discover if it's a software bug or just the copy I got is completely corrupted. |
