I have been trying to get the mii channel working but whenever I try to open it, I get booted back to the Wii home screen. People have said that I have to drag the WAD file into the dolphin window. This works but I still cannot use the Wii menu to get to the mii channel. Is there any way to access the mii channel without dragging and dropping the WAD?

You haven't installed the required IOS. You can fix this by performing a system update in Dolphin.

You are using an old version of Dolphin. The system update option will be available if you update to a recent version.

EDIT: But hold on, I thought old versions like 5.0 didn't have the IOS requirement...? I'm a bit confused. But I would suggest updating anyway.

There are two problems here.

1. You are using an old version of Dolphin, just like the original poster. Please update Dolphin.
2. As of the time of writing, the update servers are down: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-perform-online-system-update
