Problem with Memory Cards?

Hello! So I'm pretty new to emulators and have been following lots of tutorials, but I can't seem to get my memory card set up right. I thought I had my game saving to Slot A, (and had been saving frequently), but when I reopened the game today all my data had been erased? I have only played one game so far, but when opening the other for the first time, it told me my memory card slots are corrupted, and formatting them would delete everything. I didn't end up formatting it again, because I wasn't sure if it would delete everything in the first place, but all my data was somehow still gone. I'm a little frustrated that it deleted so much progress, but I know it's probably my own doing since I'm still new to all of this. Sad

Do you need two memory slots? How do you set up memory slots correctly, or more do you have to format and delete before every game? I've heard most people saying that as long as 'Slot A' is set to the memory card you should be fine. To my knowledge, I also know that the reason the game will tell you it is corrupted is that I am running the game on a computer rather than a GameCube, but I just don't completely understand how they work yet.

I'm sorry if this sounds a little dumb like I mentioned, I'm learning, and definitely not the techiest person around. Any help is appreciated! Thank you! Blush

What game is this on? To my knowledge you don't need to do anything to use Memcards, they just work. There are some games though that don't play nice with Dolphin's implementation of GCI files or other methods, so there is that. Another thing you need to be aware of is that you and Dolphin do need to have write-rights in the folder that you save your memory cards.
