Problem with hybrid wiimote

I can play fine with a real wiimote+nunchuk, however, enabling hybrid wiimote instead seems to cause an input issue, as if the nunchuk d-stick was being held right. I have tried switching back and forward a number of times, and real wiimote is always fine, and hybrid wiimote always has this issue. It occurs whether or not the nunchuk or 'none' is selected in the configuration. How can I fix this?
