Just built a new computer about to get it ready to use a Wii Remote and a sensor bar that plugs into either A USB Port or A wall outlet w/e is easier to create, just not battery powered.

Choices:

1) I once saw a very good and simple schematic for creating a USB wired sensor bar and wired controllers out here on this form. If I could find it, I was consider doing exactly as that guy had done.

2) I was also considering purchasing one of these http://www.microcenter.com/category/4294966875/Bluetooth-Adapters. In order to use my wii remotes wireless. (which one do u suggest or is an internal Blue-tooth card better, i don't mind installing it)

3) Lastly I figured i could connect the sensor bar to my 120V AC outlet and use a simple 120AC-12DC inverter and plug it into my surge protector.

I'm completely open to comments and suggestions.

What kind of wii remote do you have? If it's a Wii Remote Plus, STOP. If you have a Wii Remote Plus, you should buy a Toshiba-compatible dongle. The recommended accessories page (second link) has the one that was tested for the -TR guide.

Have yet to purchase a new Wii Remote. I was hoping to find an older one as I'm giving the newer ones I own (probably the newer -TR remotes) as a gift. Is there a way of getting an older remote? If not i will just go through the installation guide outlined here. https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Wii_Remote_Plus_(RVL-CNT-01-TR)_Connection_Guide Thanks for that MaJoR.

As for the Blue tooth PC adapter... Its unfortunate i need a Toshiba compatible Dongle. Micro-Center is close but there doesn't say anything about Toshiba on their product's webpages. Radio-shack doesn't carry this type of equipment either looks like ill have to make an amazon/ebay purchase which is unfortunate :/ since i can't pick it up today and test it. Any other ideas/suggestions thanks again MaJoR.

EDIT: Found this at wallmart http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cirago-BTA-6210-Micro-USB-Bluetooth-Dongle/13215326 looks like its compatible with the toshiba drivers what do you guys think?

The recommended accessories page that I linked to has normal non-TR wii remotes on Amazon. If you get one of those you won't need a Toshiba-compatible dongle. But honestly, if you get a Toshiba dongle the Toshiba stack is rather nice.

Ah thanks for confirming the Wii remote is non -TR. I think ill pick up that Wii remote and dongle since it helps support the developers as stated below.
Quote: NOTE: If possible, buy the devices through the links present in this guide. Dolphin is registered through the Amazon Affiliates programs, giving us money for anything you buy through this page. This costs nothing to you, and the money we get is reinvested in order to help developers buy hardware when needed.
Also i found the post with the wired Wii Remotes and wired Wii Sensor Bar https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-usb-powered-wiimote-sensor-bar
It was from a fellow member named Bighead. I'm strongly considering doing something similar to this maybe use a ps3 type wiring where it can be used as blue-tooth when unplugged or wired when plugged in. May have to PM Bighead about this.

Just an update I've started to work on my Wii Sensor Bar

Below are my design plans based on ulao's post in https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-usb-powered-wiimote-sensor-bar

ulao Wrote:For the best possible usb bar this is what you will want.

Yes this is basically 4 boards but done so on purpose ( two per side )
3 led's, 1.2V per led --> 3.6 V ; that leaves 5 - 3.6 for the resistor ---> 1.4 V
20 mA through led's and resistor 1.4 / 0.02 = 70 ohm
3 led's per string would be a good balance between efficiency and susceptibility of USB power and I still suggest you angle them out 45 deg.
This is going to give you a nice bright solution with no possible over current.
It made the most sense below is what i came up with

Things to Note:
1) I will angle the LED's 15 degrees in all directions in order to get the maximum allowably area

2) The 2 center larger LED holes will go straight foward allowing the most IR light to come through

3) I'm not sure how the current drops in each series path of 3 LEDs works. I realize the LEDs are based on current flow,
and the max based on the datasheet for the part i picked was 30A or the life of the LED would deteriorate.
However I've never before seen Current get reduced in a circuit.

4) Since #3^ would the circuit actually work better if i put a 204 Ohm resistor (68*3 so my measurements work out) in
series with the +5V from the usb and then let it go into the 4 parallel paths

5) Maybe the current 80.9-66.2mA is actually that high because they are using a different LED, or because they want to
make the LEDS extremely bright to reach farther distances

7) Is the voltage drop of each LED 3.3V (based off of the Datasheets Forward Voltage typ value)? cause if it is im sure i dont have enough voltage >.>

6) Datasheet provided for LED for your convenience: http://datasheet.octopart.com/NTE30124-NTE-Electronics-datasheet-13283409.pdf

In any case those are my first few questions I'd appreciate any help i could get, thanks.

EDIT: I think The max voltage is 100mA and the calculations i made dividing the current by 3 were wrong can someone confirm?
