I definitely like 10 a lot more than 7. It's fixed most of my complaints, and implemented a bunch of things I didn't think I needed, but now use all the time. All of the phoning home stuff is a lot less malevolent than a lot of people seem to think, and even if you are trying to avoid it, it's been backported to 7 anyway, and on 7, it has the disadvantage that there's no button to turn it to a lower level.

I'll respect that, even though I still have no idea why. Any particular reason?

Did I hear OS wars ?

Spoiler:
Here's my list
Windows:
  • Plagued by Microsoft's decision to merge Mobile with PC, thus creating a clusterfuck of a OS not even allowing a normal user to skip forced updates. Sends encrypted data to Microsofts servers when idle. (Why would they encrypt it if the data's not about you).
OSX:
  • Has potential to be the biggest OS there is, but is the worst of all of them due to Apple's bad decisions (No Vulkan on OSX, Metal API, only works on Macs)
Linux:
  • People fight over one thing, and create a fork that then gets forked again.
  • Meanwhile the replacement to the 30 year old XServer still hasn't received proper pointer locking support for games and you can't even disable Mouse acceleration because they don't think anyone wants to do that.
Meanwhile I'm just sitting here and waiting for Cinnamon to get Wayland support, but that won't happen because apparently I'm giving the most used Linux distro too much credit in making a major decision.

It is kind of incredible that we still don't have a really solid OS after all these years. I definitely respect Linux though, despite using Windows.

But you don't even know what data is being sent.
