Possible Android port, yes, I'm aware of how that sounds.

Yes, I know how this sounds like, but this is actually somewhat serious.

As it stands, current android phones have no chance of emulating the Gamecube, much less the Wii's hardware, the most powerful Android phones are dual cores that run at about 1.2 GHz per core, not nearly powerful enough.

But, Qualcomm a System-on-a-Chip manufacturers, not too long ago revealed their new SoaCs, one of them uses a Quad Core 2.5GHz beast, no much info about the GPU though, but it's going to be OpenGL and far more powerful than their current GPUs. Those chipsets will be out early 2012, with phones coming out after that.

I'm pretty sure that a Quad Core 2.5GHz CPU should be able to emulate Gamecube games, even if at not full speed.

Now, as of now Dolphin only really gets benefits from dual core systems, and tri+cores if you are using LLE on the third core, which is slower than HLE anyway, so a Quad Core wouldn't be of much use, but that 2.5GHz still accounts for something.

Of course it would need to get ported to the ARM architecture, and optimized for the Snapdragon 2, and later the Tegra 2 devices when they reach that power, and I doubt anyone would want to bother with that. Big Grin

Just food for thought.

exactly lol, dolphin only runs on like 2.4-2.5ghz at ok speeds now because of how much optimization it has for the current systems/hardware.

Then throw in a tiny screen and trying to fit all the buttons (up/down/left/right,analog stick up/down/left/right, cstick up/down/left/right, a/b/x/y/z, start, then L/R and L/R analog with like a 50% threshold as you cant have a pressure sensitive button for it) on a clumsy touch screen, ya, that will work well lol

Ya this will never happen. you would be lucky to see proper N64/PSX emulation on something larger like an ipad...

Cortex-A9 might be faster than Atom but its much slower than a Core2.
Kal-El's 12 shaders won't be enough for GFX.

Just food for though for something which has been thought over a gazillion of times each time one of those "Dolphin on PS3" threads got created?

If you ever need to feel better about it then look at my post count. Somewhere around 2,990 as of the time I am writing this. And I haven't been here anywhere near as long as you have (although I've slowed down a lot lately, and stopped posting in the support section since those people refuse to think).
