Yes, save files can't be saved online on any version newer than .6502. I know you said that you had a sync problem with 6502, but I think it might still be possible to use it if you try it out more. What I would suggest doing is deleting every single save file you have for Wii before starting the game. If that works, you would just need to make sure you continue to keep your save files the same the next time you start the game. You have to be very careful your save files really are exactly the same, since in some cases, just starting up a game can be enough to cause the save file to change.

Great. As long as both of you keep using the exact same save file for this game, you shouldn't run into any problems. You might want to consider creating portable.txt for just 6502, which would keep it from using settings and save files from other versions of Dolphin.
