I've had two, from two different companies, they're abysmal. To get a good one, you have to search hard and spend lots of money, and it's already less expensive to get a relatively expensive wifi card than to get a relatively inexpensive wifi USB adapter. I'd rather spend $10 more on a motherboard and not be able to have two graphics cards plus have more heat in the case but have a dual-band wifi card, than spend $30 more on wifi connectivity and get a crappy single-band piece of crap that'll stop working after a year.

So real quick, using the intel cpu, sapphire r7 260x 2gb and 8gb of ram on windows 7 x64, what kind of performance will I get? Will I be able to play pretty much every gamecube / wii game?

Oh by the way, if you need to save money you could get a Radeon 7770 instead of the 260x. They perform pretty much the same. I'd spend less on gpu and more on cpu if you plan to play dolphin.

I don't know what other games you're playing but GPU is not very important in Dolphin. You can play 1080p with a much weaker card than the one you have selected. Personally I'd buy a good CPU that's future proof because those are much harder to upgrade than GPU is.

I'm not JUST playing Gamecube, I'm going to be playing other high-end games too.

Question. What does the i3 have that THESE CPUs http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/parts/cpu/#xcx=0&sort=a7&C=2&Z=3000,4700 don't have?
All of these are dual-core and over 3GHz, so what makes the i3 so special? My main gripe is that the CPU is expensive, which is okay, but it uses a different socket, so the MOTHERBOARD is expensive too! God damn it!

The 7770 is more expensive and harder to find on Canadian sites, yl-smash. Well, good ones, that is. Which is rather unfortunate, to say the least.

To answer your current question, Exoquatic, the AMD CPUs have low IPC (instructions per clock), and the older Intel processors have a mixture of lower IPC than newer Intel processors, and lack of a feature of Haswell that's been implemented into Dolphin already. The Haswell Pentiums/Celerons are perfectly fine, but I'd only ever recommend them if you don't have much money to spend. I mean, like, you'll be putting a GPU in that you already own, and you are just buying the CPU to fill the mobo while you save for a new CPU. At least an i3 if it's not just filler, because i3 has hyper-threading. Also, i5s have L3 caches and more hardware cores, but no hyperthreading, and i7s are i5s with hyperthreading and larger caches.

EDIT: Also, if you buy a Haswell i3, you'll be getting the performance of at least an Ivy i5 in most applications, if not more, for less money. And, of course, you're beating out AMD processors like my own, no question.

Real quick question, does the i3 we're talking about play ALL gamecube games and wii games (that can be played on the emulator in the first place) at the intended speed? Also, are there any cheaper variants of it?
