Please don't ever do that, unless you want to destroy the online experience thats left in nintendos crappy online service. As soon as theres an emulator capable of playing online, every game will have more cheaters than players who take it serious.

Please don't ever add Nintendo WiFi(online play) support

So?
Even if the support for it would be never implemented, it wouldn't stop the hackers. My suggestion (if it's possible) is to automatically disable patches and cheat codes when Dolphin is connected to Nintendo WiFi, dunno if it is feasible, though.
Uhm... the bigger problem would be bugs (especially slowdowns) in Dolphin crashing the game for everyone. So even if they managed to connect Dolphin to WiFi, they would need some heavy restrictions. But that could be difficult too, since it's open source and anyone can modify it for themselves. I hope a dev will clarify their thoughs on this.
Also there's an EULA you have to accept on Wii in order to connect to WiFi. The question is wether or not this EULA legally applies for Dolphin, since if it does, Nintendo can simply say in it that only a Wii can be used to connect (maybe they do already)

I think that if dolphin is ever capable of running with the wifi servers from nintendo I think it would not be that difficult to them to block us

i think you will need a complete dump of your wii-firmware to play online via wifi.
i am nearly sure that there is a special "question" a wii must answer to this service to connect to it. this "question" of course wouldn't be a simple question... it would be some bytes like the internal storage-code or serial-number of your wii or something. something that makes it unique for every wii. so i guess the developers that try to code wifi-support risk a ban of their beloved wii - because of the uniqueness of this code. 04-04-2010, 09:23 AM
nah , Dolphin just needs to implement some IOS calls. And about the friend codes , I though that they were randomly generated by the console

There's always the possibility of coding unofficial server applications and making Dolphin (or even real Wiis) believe they are the real thing.

you would need wifi specific AR codes to use the codes online because offline ar codes wouldnt work. Its like the nintendo ds wifi

Its like the nintendo ds wifi Yes but online play against other people through nintendo's online system opens a whole pandora's box of memory hacks/freezing HEX address through a memory editor (health values, ammo, other changing variables etc) which can be executed while running wii games on a pc 06-05-2011, 07:29 PM
I still think that Dolphin should implement those lacking IOS calls, cause honestly it isnt the same without Nintendo WFC.
I mean comeon... Dolphin is the PERFECT Wii replacement, finally games look GOOD - at full HD, etc. and it plays fine! ![]() Right now I'm using Dolphin for all those single player games of mine cause honestly, this looks so damn nice on my HDTV... but it pisses me off that games like MH:Tri, Mario Kart (atleast when racing online and not against my gf) - still need to be played at SD resolutions and muddy output (ever seen a SD image upscaled on a HDTV? ![]() Honestly I wouldn't mind at all if it required a full Wii FW dump, just dump it from the Wii and bam, full HD wii - finally. Thats of course just my two cents... and I hope that the Dolphin devs eventually will pick it up. |
