kinkinkijkin Wrote:I was still waking up when I did that. You can't expect a man to make sensical decisions when he is still drinking his coffee.

Here we go again with the sleep excuse. Get yourself some methamphetamines.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:That's pushing it a little bit. I also need to get audio hardware and a desk with this money, which isn't going on PCPartPicker.

Well you said it was for the build and made no mention of that other stuff. So now I have to ask again. How much is your budget for the build?

kinkinkijkin Wrote:Actually, this problem is rather specific. I am set up in a stone basement, in one of the most humid cities in all of North America. The fact that it's in Canada makes the humidity cause you to be extremely cold when it's not the summer time.

Install a heater. Cooling is hard, heating is easy.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:This is going to sound VERY stupid, and I understand exactly why, so you don't need to comment on this, but, I want to have an SFF Intel-NVidia build and an LFF AMD-AMD build. Unfortunately, I'm stuck in this mindset, and might only change that when I go to actually buy the parts.

I hate when you're right. That does sound very stupid. And of course I'm going to comment on this! You admiting that it's a dumb idea only further illustrates that it's irrational and therefore worth mentioning.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:I can see why. I can't understand it either.

Then why write it? What did you mean to write?

kinkinkijkin Wrote:I live in a house with an immature adult, a mature adult, and a young child. Occasionally, we switch rooms. Also, I've been forced to move my desk about a lot while I've had my stuff down here, and it helps when your computer isn't as heavy as your little sister.

It's really not that much harder to move an ATX build than a micro-atx/mini-itx build. Unless you're constantly moving it I would advice against constraining yourself to a small build.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:The turd-burster peaks 200w, is that better?

I would aim for double that if you can. Modern parts generally use more electricity than parts from that era.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:Issues with my vision that makes 16:9 cause a slight sick feeling, and 4:3/5:4 give me a headache.

4:3/5:4 I can understand. But 16:9 is only a 10% reduction in height from 16:10 and no reduction in width. How did you test this exactly? The monitor size likely played a bigger role in your test than the AR.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:I'm compiling the list over a long period of time. I don't want someone to tell me to wait to compile it until something that I could just change in the list comes out

Ok but that would be the rationale thing to do.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:It gets hot here in the summer. I've seen this poor CPU go from loading 29c to idling 35c in the summertime, so it's a bit of a concern for higher-end hardware.

1. Your current cpu when overclocked has a much higher TDP than this one.
2. Your cooling is probably not that great.

Unless your ambient temperature is 150+ F (65+ C) a haswell desktop cpu should not be overheating at stock settings. If you really want to be sure just get a good cooler for it. You easily have the money for one.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:I asked for the thoroughness. I provided myself with what he forgot, so it's better now.

I don't know what that's supposed to mean but I'm willing to bet you're still not going to change your mind on this one.
