Okay so I have looked at the ones you've.

So here's a little bit of non critical advice to make your work easier and come out a thousand time better.

Please download and use GIMP (it is free and regularly update by the community), everyone on this forum pretty much uses it solely for everything they do.

Please look at my texture projects (links in my sig) I use only GIMP and have done almost everything by myself.

If you have questions on how to use it I'd be glad to help.

If would don't mind I would like to help in this project. I was going to do this eventually but since I saw yours I figured I could just join you. Can I contribute? Also are you planning on doing the Wii version too?

Oh okay. Well You'll be better of in the long run using GIMP. I can take care of the font in no time. I'm about to be really busy today so I'll either do it late today or late tomorrow, I'm free pretty much any day the week.
Also I am curious the differences in textures for the Wii version of Pikmin 2. They will be higher quality you know (at least I think so).

Gimp and photoshop basically use the same functions for the most part, I used photoshop for my MGS Twin Snakes HD Texture pack (Which I'll be revamping and coming back to soon), and in my day job for the past 10 years.

I don't intend to start a 'PS vs GIMP' discussion at all, but in the same thread you've said several times that the user should use GIMP eventhough they stated they're using photoshop, so I'm guessing theres a strong reason for this, I'm just not sure what it is outside of preference.

Oh boy.

Okay here's the deal. I know this is a personal choice, I just want to give the users the nudge to try different things. I too was once a PS user (for years) GIMP isn't appealing just because it's free, rather that it is open sourced and community driven which PS is not. There are more benefits from being a open source program than closed source (this applies in most cases, and in this one). Also I prefer a UI and CP that is advanced and intuitive. GIMP is by far faster than PS, I can say this because I know it for a fact, I've used both in the past and tested it out thoroughly. And from what I've been able to produce in GIMP, it surpasses in quality.

If you want I can send you some samples to redraw and compare them yourself. Of course though if you are not skilled at GIMP (like a daily user would be) then it would be pointless to convince you to try it. Like a mac user compared to a windows user or windows to linux user it's all about perspectives. Without being open to try something new, to see what it has to offer, you would in effect be blind to the truth that the people who use that know. However when you have the experience from all the different angles the the picture is clear and your statement is valid.

A more fair test I supposed would be to compare the same redrawn texture that a PS user did to a GIMP user (assuming they are professionals) and compare times that it took to do and the quality and details obtained. This is somewhat personal-skill based so you may feel it is unfair, but it's as close as I think you could get to fair.
[EDIT]
Recording the work in process and step by step would also help someone to decide which program is better.
