I switched over to the Toshiba stack and ordered the Azio bluetooth for a more permanent fix and that seems to have helped things.
The toshiba stack allowed me to connect a new Wii plus motion remote the TR version which seems to be ok. However, the old non motion plus controller still acts up. This is frustrating, because I don't want to have to go buy a new controller.
Maybe the contact is degraded in the old remote? I suppose in the meantime, the issue is fixed.
