I used Dolphin way back in late 09/early 10 and back then it was quite different from now as I can tell from the layout of the site and the increased list of compatible games.
Back then I was sporting a different rig to now I only tried out super smash bros brawl and performance was terrible. I tried everything to get it to run above 25fps.

Hardware wise this rig is probably about 1/3 faster.
AMD Athlon II 630 X4 @ 2.8 GHz (stock)
4GB DDR3 1333MHZ ram
ATI 5770 1GB GDDR3

What should I expect now performance wise? games that I'm looking to play are New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart Wii.
I don't mind if its in a resolution like 1024x768 I just want it to be solid 60fps.
What's the verdict?

NSMBW requires pretty damn low resources, I can easily run it on 60 FPS with accelerated graphics unlike many other games. Pretty sure your computer can run it. Haven't play Mario Kart Wii though.

By the way, SSBB will probably work with some tweaked settings/lower visual settings, your computer sounds like it can run plenty of games, at least without any acceleration in the graphics department.

I see thanks for the info, just wanted to get an idea before I committed.

try rev 6505 Smile
@2.8ghz from the x4 is enough for most of the games you mentioned (30fps games)
if some game runs below 100%
every 100mhz oc should give you 3-5% speed
EDIT by neobrain: that pic was kinda annoying..
EDIT by dannzen: don't fuck with my sig Dodgy

Dolphin has gotten much better since the time you last used it. Just make sure you use a 64-bit version (assuming you have 64-bit Windows) and the DirectX 9 plugin. I cant really say how fast it'll be (not an AMD person) but it'll definitely be better than the 25fps you used to get.

Cool, I fiddled with it abit and ripped my PAL verson of New Super Mario Bros, plays perfectly. Running it at 720p with abit of AA and AF looks very nice, controls also seem to work pretty good on an xbox 360 controller.
