Performance issues on my rig

Hey guys, rig's in the sig. I know it's a laptop, but it's still pretty stacked for a mobile computer. Gamecube games tend to run at about 75-90% speed on average, Wii games at 60-80% - obviously both with peaks and slowdowns throughout.

I'm just wondering if this is normal or if something in my setup is bottlenecking the emulator? At the moment I'm using rev 5218 as it seems to give me the best performance and least crashes on Wii games. The newest rev out doesn't seem to like Mario Kart Wii so I can't tell if it's faster.

Should SLI have any effect on the emulator performance? Currently it's enabled.

Thanks!

I use r5182 SSE4.1 and I get a solid 60fps in most games, and my laptop is way inferior to yours (P8400 C2D @ 2.26 Ghz, 9600m GT, 4 gb Ram @ 800 Mhz, Win7 32 bit), with the exception of twighlight princess and mario galaxy. Do you have AA on? What resolution you running the games at? You should try some of the SSE builds in the svn forum.

I've tested with AA/AS filtering on/off and different combos of the two but it doesn't seem to make much difference in terms of performance gains when both are off - just makes the games look ugly on a 24" haha.

I've just got the D3D plugin and that fixes a lot of texture problems in the games but only with EFB enabled. I've noticed I can get solid performance with EFB disabled, but then have to suffer broken graphics. :/

My CPU supports SSE 4.1 so I'm gonna try an SSE build as you suggested to see if it helps.
Edit: I'm now using R5182 SSE 4.1 x64 and the speed boost is tremendous. Without AA/AS I can get pretty much 100% game speed. Big Grin

5182/5186 is the last build that was fast (for me and a few others), just set the resolution to your monitors native res and you shouldn't need any anti aliasing. Glad everything worked out for you. I could be wrong about the fast part as more revisions come out by the day, but I don't have time to test every single one. I'm happy with 5182, it plays every game I own.

Any games that are still "blurry" even at the native res of your monitor, try enabling twilight princess bloom hack or bleach vs crusade. It fixes Windwaker and makes the game clear as can be. Probably fixes other games that have the blur problem too.
