Hi,

For some reason I never get more then about 30 fps in-game in Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart. In menu-mode, fps might peak at about 60, but in-game the system always runs at about 30 fps. I've set the resolution to 640x480.

I've tried using the suggested settings in the performance guide on dolphin-emu.org, but this has no significant effect.

My computer specifications:

I7 860, running at stock speed
4 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 5870, running at stock speed
Windows 7 64

Any tips would be appriciated!

turn off "hyperthreading" in bios and use direct x 9 plugin.
that should be enough for fullspeed in most games.
(should also speedup normal computergames too)
HT is only good for some programs like videoencoders or rendering programs and useless for (99% of all games) games.
when a game uses core 0 and core 1 for dualcore with a HT CPU it actually only uses 1 core (split in 2 cores)... but it doesnt get the speedup that it would have by 2 real cores.

I tried disabling HT, but this had no effect. I'm using the DX-plugin, configured as suggested in the above mentioned guide. It seems strange really... In Super Mario Galaxy, the in-game FPS is almost constantly hovering around 30. It's almost as if it's locked to it in some way. VPS on the other hand is always at a constant 60.

I'm using the 2.0 RC1 version by the way.

Any other tips would be appriciated!

Thanks!

When running the games in 640 x 480 I'm now experiening FPS in the mid fourties, and VPS at about hundred and fourty. The SPEED reading is usually in the mid two-hundreds. The games are playable at these ratings.

If I however increase the resolution to say 1680 x 1050, the games slow down somewhat. The same goes for resolutions like 1280x768.

I don't understand this. I'm reading about other people with similar system configurations running at 1680 x 1050 WITH 4xAA.

Just an update:

When running in full screen 1680x1050, the output does not look like it's rendered in the 1680x1050 at all. I looks more like grainy 640x480 stretched out all over the screen.

I tried adjusting the settings, and when enabling "EFB copy To Texture" I experienced a major performance boost. I bit to big a boost actually, because the games now run way to fast. On the positive side, the output now actually looks like it's true 1680x1050.

As always, tips are greatly appriciated!
