That's because the NZXT fans he's planning on getting all already more expensive than generic fans of the same size. Which are around $10. So in this case it's double the price of generic ($10 vs. $20) instead of triple. Doesn't sound like much but when you're buying 6 of them like he is that's $60 vs. $120 for fans. IMO he should stick with generic unless he really needs the extra quality.

Advice: If you really need extra fans, don't go for ones with LEDs because if you leave your computer rendering/mining/just on overnight, and have it in or near your bedroom you won't be able to sleep from the light.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: Intel i5 4670K @3.4GHz... for now @4.6GHz with a quick and dirty (yet stable) OC. May get faster in a bit before the end of time.
RAM: 16GB (Down from 24 GB after some was given to siblings)
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

Yeah when I got a fan controller the LED lights were so bright that even with my room fully lit they blinded me if I so much as glanced in the general direction of my PC. So I covered them up with tape because I'm too lazy to go in there and cut them out.

NZXT moulded them into each fan guard, so they'd be a pain to remove, and the power and HDD activity lights are enough to see by easily when the fans are turned off for sleep mode.

Decided not to go with the NZXT fans with all those led lights and instead go for the Phanteks. Cheaper than Noctua and still silent with 88 CFM at 19 db which is excellent. Not sure about the quality though. Sad
