I have tried those 2 and 3.0-424 HLE hack, and for me 3.0-72 is the winner. It has the best visual fidelity and performance out of the 3. It runs at 25 fps most of the time while sometimes dropping to 23 in battles, so nothing major. Your hardware should run it at max fps all the time. I have no hacks enabled from the default except "texture cache" at rightmost value. Running it at 4x native resolution. 3x native and 4x SSA gives better quality but I lose too much fps by doing this. You should experiment with this as it's easy to do as you can see the changes immediately when running the game.

I cannot comment about crashes of 370 or 424 as I haven't played with them enough. 72 has crashed twice on my 25 hours save, and both of them were on Bionis' Leg, though this could be pure coincidence, so you should save more often when on that area.

thanks, i'll play around and see what i like best. right now abe's does seem smoother and more stable for me, but for either one 4xAA seems to make the game unstable for me. 16xAF seems fine though.

(01-10-2011, 07:44 PM)Mylek Wrote: This patch should prevent choppy noise in HLE audio in Xenoblade.

After playing for a while, especially when FPS is above/below expected game FPS, audio turns into choppy noise mixed with normal audio. Easy way to see this is to sit at the title screen with no fps limiting or audio throttling. With this patch applied the noise shouldn't occur.

r6856 x64 with the patch v2: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B6-VV5WMgAhUYjFkYTdkYjQtNzgyMC00ZmMzLWE0Y2UtNTQxY2U3M2Y5MjVj&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

For those interested in how this works, the game engine's writes to looping audio buffers seems to drift towards the read offsets until it eventually overtakes them (resulting in noise). When the engine only sees odd offsets in the PB structures this doesn't seem to happen.

Update: Posted v3.1 here http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=14356&pid=169677#pid169677

Forget my comments, Xenoblade HLE Hack v3.1 works great.

Great work! As many other Games have comparable Problems related to audio buffering (Rune Factory, DKCR, SMG, Zelda SS and many more), do you think it could be technically possible to add some adjustable parameters to the HLE audio plug-in that might be able to address these issues?

I'm not asking to perform any changes, but just to provide a technical evaluation from a talented developer.

The Xenoblade fix could give some hints to where this general HLE audio problem is located.
The new HLE audio parameters could be placed within the hidden game specific .ini files and fix the current problems for all games in a comparable way to the Xenoblade fix.

The Xenoblade patch also improves the HLE audio in Rune Factory Oceans / Tides of destiny a lot but it does not fix it completely.

Now that the dsi exceptions and freezes on 32bit systems should be fixed (see: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=70b6c4280f72a1adaa7cefc7ab7cc7173e3c8e7f ), i built the newest revision with Mylek's 3.1 audio patch.

DOLPHIN 3-0-496 with Xenoblade HLE Fix

For 64-bit Windows: http://www.embedupload.com/?d=2YEFIIFFBF

For 32-bit Windows: http://www.embedupload.com/?d=2GKSYTYZDJ

You might need 7-ZIP to extract the archive, just google it.
