I compared the setting side by side to make sure they are exactly the same. Slowdown still occurs. Did this patch do something to really slow down the game? I'm using 3.0.

If you get slowdown it can only come from the audio throttle which means MAX_SAMPLES is probably set too low for your system/backend. In the v3.0 patch I lowered it from 8k to 1k. I suspect recompiling it with it set at 2k (or 4k?) would fix your problems. As a workaround you could use fps based frame limiting instead of audio throttle but I don't know if it would have any side effects.

The 7z files I linked are compiled with the patch already which is probably what you want.

If you have the source code and want to compile it yourself then you would apply the last patch I posted like this: git apply c:\path\to\file.patch from within dolphin's git folder. If you comment out the sleep in XAudio2Stream.cpp patch v3.1 basically becomes patch v3.

I forgot to update. I used FilthyMonkey's 3.0 revision build and everything worked fine. No speed issues and I only get static for maybe 1 second every 20 min or so. All the noise from cut scenes are gone too so its a extra plus. Only slight problem I have now its if I turn off audio throttle certain non-intensive cutscenes will go way past the normal FPS, I end up watching the scene faster than the chit-chat, so I get people talking after scene is over.

Is there a point trying to compile the x64 builds including SSE optimizations for XP64 or are there specific downsides which make this unuseable?

I do prefer XP64 over Windows 7 and unless Dolphin has AVX support, too I'd really prefer to wait till Win 8 before making the transition. I've had several run ins with Win7 and while I can work with it I simply don't like it.

In general I am wondering how much of an improvement in Xenoblade x64 now offers, as well as Windows 7 specific optimizations. Read that earlier builds of Dolphin improved little if at all on x64 and Vista/7.

Thank you for your help and support, definitely appreciated.

Hi
I have dolphin OSx, any chance this fix will make it to the Mac or should I look at running windows 7 on bootcamp as a solution?

After playing for a while, especially when FPS is above/below expected game FPS, audio turns into choppy noise mixed with normal audio. Easy way to see this is to sit at the title screen with no fps limiting or audio throttling. With this patch applied the noise shouldn't occur.

r6856 x64 with the patch v2: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B6-VV5WMgAhUYjFkYTdkYjQtNzgyMC00ZmMzLWE0Y2UtNTQxY2U3M2Y5MjVj&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

r6856 win32 with the patch v2: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B6-VV5WMgAhUYTg2ZjJiNzYtNmZiOS00MmQ4LWJhZTEtNDMzM2EyNWNjYjRj&sort=name&layout=list&num=50

For those interested in how this works, the game engine's writes to looping audio buffers seems to drift towards the read offsets until it eventually overtakes them (resulting in noise). When the engine only sees odd offsets in the PB structures this doesn't seem to happen.

Update: Posted v3.1 here http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=14356&pid=169677#pid169677

Thanks for this it work great.

v3.1 never worked for me - I had the constant noise problem - but now it does work. XAudio2 still gives me that noise but DSound doesn't. The odd thing is DSound used to give me that problem, so this is a little surprising. I did overclock my CPU, though, so perhaps that helped? I have no idea! Tongue

So what other settings do you guys use with v3.1? Default?

hi,
thanks for the good work. i dont have the sound bug anymore. but therefore my fps drop to ~17fps in battles. using dolphin v3 from the official site gives me a minimum of 22fps (and the annoying sound bug...). how can i fix this problem?

edit: the problem occurs with all builds compiled by mylek and filthymonkey.

hi there,

I got the same problem, with the patch my game gets really slow. I get about 20 fps in the town or in outside areas (I'm afraid it will drop lower in huge battles), while with the http://www.xtemu.com x64 build the games runs better und is not laggy, but the sound issues here drive me crazy. What's a bit awkward is, that with the Xtemu build, I don't have that much more fps, like in town about 23 to 25 compared to the 20fps with the patch applied, but the controls feel a lot less clumsy and more direct without the patch. I seriously have no idea why this occurs.
What I also don't understand is, that my FPS never change, no matter if I play 1080p and 2,5 native or with just 480p and 1xnative, my fps always stay the same. Thought it should run faster if I turn the quality down..
My system:
AMD Athlon II X3 450 3,2 GHz
Asus Radeon HD 5770 1GB
4 GB DDR3-Ram
