Paper Mario TTYD Memory issue

Friend is running into an issue when starting up the game for the first time she is asked to format the memory card in slot A will this do anything bad to her computer? I feel like maybe its just a small little thing included in the actual game, but i'd rather be safe than sorry.

Assuming this is the first gamecube game he try to save with then he be fine. If he has previous save though you might what to look for saves game location in settings since especially if he moved the install folder as it might be setup to go to the previous folder.

If you have any existing GameCube saves, this formatting might delete them. Other than that, your computer will not be affected.
