I got interrupted before I got very far. Do you know how to go about reading raw image data with imagemagick? If you knew it might help me a bit. If not, it doesn't really matter. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
It's been a while since I've last made any attempts. But to answer your question I don't know if ImageMagick has that capability. I'm not even entirely sure what is meant by 'raw' image data but I'm assuming it means the data in binary (base 2). In .NET I think the System.IO namespace can do this with the ReadAllBytes method (System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes("file")), so there is probably something equivalent to this in python.

Hello Everyone!

I just thought I would post to introduce myself. I'm going to help out with this amazing fan project! I've downloaded the files and am looking at them now.

I love Nintendo and have been playing their games since I was a kid. I am buying the new paper mario tomorrow haha.

I am a freelance designer and am very proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator so I am hoping to help us make some good progress.

I am excited to work with everyone!

I have the textures of some toad characters right here. They are Jolene and Prince Mush from the Glitz Pit. Give them a try!

Remember that the outlines are never 100% black. And to keep the 'space' between the texture and the border of the image.

Oh I certainly plan too!

Are there any other standards or things I should keep in mind while working on textures to make sure everything works out correctly when implementing them with the game and everyone else work?

Also, is there a way to quickly see what the textures look like in game without having to go through the entire game to the point where the characters/textures actually appear?

That's al you need to know!

There's no way to look at the textures without playing the game. But you can just download a 100% save file somewhere and visit the area where your texture appears.

One standard I try to keep is to not add too much "realism" if any at all. Shading is okay because its in almost all original textures. I started down that road before quickly changing paths because it doesn't really fit the style of the original artwork. There's no law saying that it has to fit the original style but anything else looks off, an example is this....

It looks really nice but it stands out and feels out of place, like it came from an entirely different pack.

If you need certain points of the game I have a collection of saves from start to finish categorized by chapter.

Sup fellas.  Cool

Edit: To explain, basically Dolphin is hashing the game textures in there native format. Now I just have to find a way to read the image data automatically (skipping the header). Smile
