Thank you Invader this looks great, I have one issue I'd like to bring to your attention.

I was playing the game and notice a constant stutter every 3-5 seconds, I messed about with every setting to try and fix it but nothing worked. So I tried un ticking "load custom textures" and now it works great with no 3-5 second stutter.

Any idea how I could keep the texture pack on but have no stutter.

Yeah, with Degasus custom texture pre-caching... unforunately, it hasn't been merged, yet.

No idea what any of that means but I've found my own fix for now.

I've reduced the resolution of all the textures Invader created by 50%. I tested it and now the game runs perfect. Sure it's 50% less quality but it still looks amazing and miles better than the original textures.

Here's the 50% reduced texture pack if anyone cares.

Credit to Invader for the HD Texture Pack he done all the work.

turning off dualcore might help, it definitely help with texture flickering issues. there's also a dolphin build linked in the zelda collecters edition texture thread(look for reccommended build in the first post).
finally you could try this DDS version of the texture pack. I used a free tool really quick to batch convert all textures (kind of killed the folder organization in the process). They seem to load much quicker than png, however round edges are noticeably more pixelated.  you're welcome to give it a try though.

More textures: http://www.mediafire.com/download/d0hr6a01tr80rx2/PMTTYD_BHPack4.7z
Lots of these were already done in the pack, but I prefer the borders to match the colors of the original borders. This is all the textures I've created for this game so far. Lots more planned, just lack of time...

My two cents is that DDS is indeed superior in performance when dealing with large textures. The PR/build StripTheSoul is talking about that can cache all textures in RAM which makes PNG not stutter is here: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/2162

@farcry15: You can also try my tool for generating DDS packs. It takes a little bit to set up and there's a lot to take it because it's powerful in what it can do, but it keeps the folder structure of a texture pack when converting, and can do all kinds of other neat stuff that programs like Aorta and the Compressonator can't do. It uses nvidia dds utilities which can also generate higher quality textures.

A basic breakdown of getting it working is this:
- Install imagemagick + dds utilities
- Edit script with notepad and edit paths to imagemagick + dds utilities (if necessary)
- Copy script to texture pack folder and run it.
- Choose "Convert all Textures to Another Format >> DDS"

@ Bighead: Do you happen to have a build (or know a link to one) that includes the custom texture precaching?
I get the feeling it's not coming to master anymore... but since most of my games run flawlessly on recent revisions, I'd just take that one for playing. I can't see anymore of that darn stuttering xD

The build is still online from the buildbot, you can get it here: https://buildbot.dolphin-emu.org/builders/pr-win-x64/builds/1871
It's under number 7 of "Steps and Logfiles".

Got it, thanks! Smile

Hm, strange, I still get the same stuttering even with the option working (it says it has prefetched 5400 MB of textures). I thought this would eliminate the stuttering? :/

Really? Just tested and it works flawless for me. Did you try it with the most recent pack (v0.5 as of writing)? The stuttering might be caused by not all the textures being in the new custom texture format? The most recent update has all the (non-optional) textures in the new custom texture format. That's just a guess though...

Ah, sorry, I actually didn't use this pack - it was the Super Mario Galaxy pack that still gives me the same stuttering as with without texture prefetching.
