Does anybody care to report this issue? D3D9 is going to be removed. It would be nice if this pack worked with both D3D11 and OpenGL.

Since Paper Mario TTYD is made up almost entirely of textures it really doesn't do the character textures justice.

Which AA are recommended? CSAA and SSAA?

Oh sorry, I should have elaborated. SSAA is recommended. Also, this pack works fine with OpenGL, which supports 4x SSAA.

You're off to a good start. Keep at it and you'll have something golden. Unfortunately, I've got criticism for you, too.

You title screen isn't very well done. While I can see you've painstakingly tried to recreate the logo, it looks pretty wonky. A better solution would've been to try and work off the existing logo. The background, while scaled up, is very blurry. I'd suggest looking into specialist resizing programs, or Photoshop plugins like Blow Up, for large textures like those. And the copyright text is likely to send graphic designers into epileptic fits - Comic Sans is an evil font.
Also, the font replacement looks strange and thin. It appears you went off and just shoved letters into the font file without aligning them with the originals. When it comes to making replacement textures, always try to make sure what you've got aligns with what's present in the game.

Your work on the character side of things is much better. The pieces all fit together well, even if they look ridiculously sharp in-game due to their resolution. I'd recommend using a program called DDSopt to test converting them into DDS files so they can benefit from mipmapping.

Unfortunately, you seem to have made a few curious artistic choices in terms of line colour and shading. Mario seems to have lost a fair bit of detail in his upscaling. His ears, buttons, and hat are all missing details. You should keep in mind that gradients are poor replacements for hand-painted shading! And that tiny textures still have details! You've also changed many shaded lines into generic black ones, and messed with the perspective on Mario's chest. The change in line tone in particular is one I'd like to poke at - completely black lines don't look as papery as shaded ones, and if that was a conscious choice you should seriously reconsider it.

With that said, I've actually made my own title screen/font replacement textures for others to take a look at - you can download them from this link. I've made them as close to the originals as possible. For comparison, see below.

But that's enough about what I've done. At the moment, what you've got requires a lot of tuning up. Of course, I understand this is only an early version of your work. But the earlier things are poked at, the better they turn out in the end. So, keep on keeping on.

You're making me feel things no HD texture pack should...and I like it.

I tested it yesterday and it's kind of glitchy;
the outer lines are too fat compared to the original, the colors don't match and I have to re-draw the ear .. As I said, it's very hard to do textures for this game, while the game almost only consists of textures ..

We should all work together on that texture pack ..
I'm bad at photoshop, so maybe you guys could do all textures like the HUD and textures that you cannot draw ..
I would take care of the characters ..

Here's another preview of Mario's hammer:

Those textures look amazing, I really want to see this HD texture pack flourish for one of my top favourite RPGs of all time!

I had a little spare time today so I thought I would try doing one of the simpler icons, the "Tactics" flag:

Here is a screenshot of it in action (click for larger/higher quality view):

It seems a bit "jaggy" for some reason, probably on sizing. I'll start on others if you guys think I'm good enough. Wink

EDIT: Changed the flag's base a bit to make it more flat, similar to the original. What do you think, better or worse?
